As if the season of “good will to men” doesn’t include kindness to dogs, a three-year-old sweet dog was dumped at a county shelter in South Carolina with her bone sticking out of her leg. Rescue Dogs Rock NYC received the following plea for help on Tuesday:

“Snow is about 3 years old, very sweet. Loves the other dogs, weighs around 35-40 lbs. Short. Bull mix. HAS A BONE STICKING OUT OF HER BACK LEG!!! Owner surrender can leave at any time her time is up Dec. 27th. We Need to get her to the vet as soon as possible. Is there anyone that can rescue this sweet dog? What a sweet girl!”

Stacey Silverstein, co-founder of the rescue organization known for helping dogs in the most egregious situations, was horrified after she saw the photos.

“Meet Sugar Cookie, formerly Snow, who was brought into a SC kill shelter by her “owner” yes WITH THE BONE STICKING OUT OF HER LEG!

The dog has been transferred to the organization’s partner veterinarian. An update will be posted as soon as available.

  1. Why didn’t the shelter question the owner about the injured leg? It was obvious Snow had a broken leg and something must have happened to cause the injury. Thank you RDR for rescuing Snow and please provide update on Snow’s condition. I pray the vet can save her leg. She’s such a sweet looking pup.

    • My question exactly – apparently some of these shelters have the backbones of overcooked spaghetti and do nothing when some maggot dumps their animal with injuries and just lets them walk out and do nothing. Thank God for Rescue Dogs Rock NYC – otherwise I bet this so called ‘shelter’ would have just killed Sugar Cookie.

  2. What insanity to leave a dog like this even if you can’t afford vet care. Be honest and try to get care for your dog. This scum owner should be made to pay for care for leaving a dog like this at a shelter without any explanation. Many so-called owners are so heartless that I wonder how they are with their immediate family.

Thanks RDR of NYC for stepping in to take care of this dog. They are a wonderful organization and are true angels to these helpless animals.

  3. Oh my goodness! What on earth is wrong with people that they are so heartless to do something like this? Please RDR keep us informed on the situation with this sweetheart. I hope there is someway that the shelter can prevent this couple from adopting any type of animal again.

  4. At the very least it looks as though the leg will need to be amputated, and hopefully Sugar Cookie is not yet septic. The owner Needs an amputation Right below the neck… what a rotten individual… to not seek help sooner…

  5. Was the monster of an owner held responsible in anyway for the treatment of this poor animal? Their name should be on a national registry list and NEVER ALLOWED to buy, adopt or live in the same home as a pet!!!

  6. Can’t use the language I want nor say what I’d really like to. Karma is waiting for that POS owner, and I hope it finds him soon, especially since the shelter failed to call the cops on his disgusting and despicable ***.
