In a disturbing case of animal neglect, a Tucson man now faces animal cruelty charges after the dog he left in 115 degree heat with no food, shelter or water died. On Saturday, Phil Carreon, 37, was arrested and charged with two misdemeanor counts of animal cruelty.

According to the TucsonNews, police responded to a call on June 27, referencing two dogs that had been left behind in a vacant home. According to the neighbor, who informed the Tucson Police Department officers about his concern for the dogs, he stated he had noticed several days before a strong odor “like something dead.” When he went over to the home behind him, he found one of the dogs had died. The other dog had been emaciated, dehydrated and suffered from a tick infestation. The neighbor took the female dog home – gave  her a bath and cared for her before he took her to a local veterinarian.

The neighbor then called the landlord about the dead dog before calling 911, however the dog already had been removed, but the bloodstains remained on the concrete as well as a strong odor of bleach. Carreon stated he had moved out of the home six weeks prior, but had been returning to care for the dogs. He then stated he went to Phoenix for the weekend,  and when he returned, his dog named Charger was found dead in the laundry room.

The witness stated no one had been at the home for at least five days, and there had been no food or water left for the dogs. When Carreon was told his second dog had been taken to the vet for care, Carreon stated he didn’t want the dog anymore. That dog has since been adopted.

Carreon has a court date scheduled for August 22.

Rest in peace sweet dog. We can only hope you find some justice for all of the suffering you had to endure.

  1. Of course this lying POS will burn in Hell forever for his cruelty (& I hope he gets there sooner & dies a painful, scary death)……

Glad one precious puppy was saved and rehomed…..

RIP Charger, sorry humans failed you in every way possible????????????

  2. Another case of brain dead authorities NOT charging this skank with FELONY animal cruelty – Philip Carreon has proven his lack of common sense, humanity and care for this poor dog who did not have to die due to this idiot’s neglect.

  3. Let the punishment fit the crime. Do the same to this so-called man, and see how he survives. If he does, extensive jail time for the death of one of the dogs.

  4. Il faut lui faire la même chose, qu’il se dessèche et qu’il meurt. Pas de pitié pour les monstres.

  5. Sorry we lost another innocent animal to these sick abusers. Happy the other one has been adopted already! This man is pitiful. Saying he was “caring ” for them. What a lying black hearted piece of garbage. The authorities better start protecting the voiceless more, because I think the cruel maniacs are getting ahead of us animal advocates/activists. We have to give them the harsh consequences they deserve to put a dent in this insane treatment of god’s creatures.

  6. P.S. and this Misdemeanor prissy penalty stuff just isn’t getting it! It’s our obligation to protect animals from cruelty!

  7. I’m so tired of reading these stories of dogs being left like this without food, water in the heat to die! Rest in peace precious pup, I’m glad they got to the other one in time. I hope they throw the book at this POS and he gets a punishment worthy of the crime he committed!

  8. POS should be treated the same way till dead. RIP poor puppy. I’m so sorry you were forced to suffer by that POS who was supposed to care for you. Run free, happy and healthy now at the Rainbow Bridge, sweet baby.

  9. What a fucking son of a bitch! In jail he may rot, and he should be left without food and water in 5 days in prison, and let’s see how he deals with his worthless ass!

  10. Charged with two misdemeanors? So I guess Arizona has half ass laws reguarding animal cruelty, look out here comes the slap on the wrist non punishment for the cruel slow death of a helpless dog! Good job Arizona!
