In Royalton, New York, the owner of a seven-month-old puppy faces animal cruelty charges after witnesses recorded the man beating the dog. Jay Kenneth, 33, was arrested by the Niagara County Sheriff’s Office deputies after listening to a submitted audio recording of the suspect’s repeated strikes as the puppy was heard screaming.

According to the Buffalo News, officials with the SPCA stated on Wednesday, the audio alleges sounds of repeated strikes with an unidentified object as the puppy’s screams could be heard while Kenneth shouted. Witnesses later told a deputy they saw Kenneth grab the pup, named Spike, by the scruff of the neck when the two had been outdoors and drag the dog up a flight of stairs.

Kenneth did have an apparent dog bite wound on his hand, and it is suspected the puppy bit him while being abused. As the deputy interviewed Kenneth, the frightened puppy hid between the deputy’s legs. The SPCA investigator seized Spike, who will remain in their custody. A veterinarian examination did not reveal any significant physical injuries. According to WivbNews, however  Niagara County SPCA Executive Director Amy Lewis said Spike seemed “slightly weary of initial physical contact,” which could be a sign of abuse.

“When he came back to the shelter from the vet, I had to go and say hi to him,” Lewis said. “He was very happy to see me, but submissively urinated when I reached for him. Once we made friends, he was in my lap.”

  1. Why do people get dogs if they don’t have the patience to deal with them. This poor puppy, it’s no wonder he bit this POS! I hope they never let Jay Kenneth near another dog!

  2. He should be banned forever from getting any pet. Puppies are adorable, but requires a lot of work and patience. If you don’t want to put in the effort, get a gold fish. If you love dogs, but don’t want to deal with puppy training, adopt an adult dog. Just do your homework before getting a puppy/dog. With regards to this guy, I wouldn’t trust him with any living thing! Surely, he has anger issues.

  3. Once again a waste of human flesh attacking something 10 times smaller than himself! I hope some prisoner the same size of this abuser WIPES THE FLOOR UP WITH THIS ABUSERS FACE! OMG! I hope New York is a state where animal cruelty is a felony! SO,SO THANKFUL THIS PUPPY IS NOW AWAY FROM THIS WORTHLESS BRUTE!!!!!!!!

  4. Ce monstre doit être condamné à perpétuité sans possibilité de sortir. Pas de pitié pour les barbares.

  5. I sincerely hope they don’t just let this Buzzard Puke walk out without being held accountable for this torture on that poor little animal!!! HE needs to be banned for EVER owning another ANIMAL of ANY KIND!!!

  6. This creep is not a human being! I hope he can Never ever own any animal again. Lets just hope someone he meets in jail will take care,of him! ????????

  7. Jay Kenneth needs a severe dose of street justice – to beat a puppy and then turn around and blame the dog because he was bitten – he was bitten because he was beating a puppy – this maggot needs to be nailed to a tree and used as target practice – sure ain’t good for anything else.

  8. I am no longer surprised at what monsters do to their sweet fur babies who LOVE AND DEPEND on them for safety. The courts have got to start getting tough with these useless excuse of humans. All they do is beat up on defenseless animals because they are too chicken sh** to confront their real source of anger. START MAKING THE PUNISHMENT SO HARSH IT WILL NOT BE SOMETHING THEY WILL CONSIDER!!! Right now all they get is a slap on the hand and they are done.
