Poor Oreo; on Tuesday the sweet collie was grinning from ear to ear thinking she was going for a car ride. What dog doesn’t love the warm breezes sailing through their faces and having another chance to be with the humans they love? Tragically, Oreo’s day didn’t turn out as she thought. Volunteers found her shivering with fear in her shelter kennel at the Harris County Animal Shelter:

“Oreo is balled up in the corner shaking; at least it’s not in the back of the kennel. This girl is shaking for she is still having a hard time comprehending that her family just left her. She was all excited about the ride; that was until she realized something isn’t right. She was left here…,” a volunteer wrote on the Harris County Animal Shelter Volunteers Facebook page.

  1. I just don’t understand how people can be so cruel!!!! All they ask for is to be loved and wanted and all these ASSHOLES do is put them in the Shelter!!!!! The idiots who do this need to be stuck in those cages and see how it really is to live there!!!!! ASSHOLES!!!! God bless you Oreo, I hope you find a real Loving family!!!

  2. Harris County Texas…. ARM PIT of AMERICA for ANIMAL”S in NEED of HELP and HOMES . the people of that county are Ruthless for dumping their pets… and never looking back… I wonder if the population is 90% illegals!!!

  3. Bless this little dog. The way people betray the trust of their loving companions is heart breaking. I hope that Oreo soon finds a true good home with someone who will love him forever.

  4. Another reason I hate people – ANYONE who dumps a dog and walks away makes me want to puke. PLEASE SOME KIND PERSON OPEN YOUR HEART AND HOME TO OREO – He is not a criminal and does not belong behind bars. You will never regret it. Harris County murders animals on a daily basis – don’t let this happen to Oreo.

  5. Please—a family withchildren. She is so traumatized. She is shaking to the core. She was betrayed by her owner. No more owners. Bad handle. We are friend; family or caretaker please.

    • You should call the Harris County Animal Shelter. They are open from 1-5:30 and their phone number is 281-999-3191. You can ask about ID #A490798. She might have been adopted already or she might have been transferred out of the shelter to make room for the Harvey dogs. At least then you will know what happened.

      • Thank u Linda and Pamela! Nothing more heartbreaking than societies stray and homeless dogs. It’s evokes such pain and sadness in me that most lose their life because of it. Just wish we could save them all……if only.

      • Cynthia they replied back. Oreo has been rescued, but, needs adoption. They asked me if I would, however, had to explain to them I live in MA.

    • Linda, I am so glad she was rescued! I can’t take her either as I am over my limit with 15 cats and a dog! Hope somebody steps up for her. Thanks for updating us!

    • Linda,THANK U for taking the time to give me this info! I live in Ohio and most of these poor dogs that are at risk of being killed and are need of fostering and rescue seem to always be in California and Texas the most. Too many of them seem to want u to be there in person to save the dog which I don’t understand, they seem to deny people in other states who want to step up and take the dog with arranged transportation, which I don’t understand……shouldn’t be about saving the dogs? I have three senior rescues and unable to adopt anymore at this time due to vet care cost! Which is why I’m such a huge fan of fostering. I’m so relieved Oreo was not killed,I was afraid to hear what happened to this poor dog! I could NEVER live my life without several dogs sharing it with me. I’m particularly drawn to the seniors, who so many people pass on,they are more costly due to health issue that come with aging and that is one of the reasons I’m drawn to them, they need a savior more so than younger ones. Like all dog lovers I wish I could save them all! I will ALWAYS feel killing dogs for space issues and being homeless is immoral and wrong! Thanks again Linda????????

      • Pamela and Cynthia you are most welcome. I can’t understand why people in and around the area doesn’t step up when so many out of state are willing to adopt, but, can’t because they don’t live in that area.
