An Oregon woman, who strangled her neighbor’s young puppy earlier this year, has been sentenced to several years in prison. According to the Statesman Journal, on Monday, 44-year-old Meagan Lafferty was sentenced to just over three years in prison after she pleaded no contest to charges stemming from the cruel incident which took place in Salem on January 30.

Lafferty had been invited to stay at a neighbor’s residence after being displaced from her own home because of a fire; the Labrador retriever mix pup belonged to person who was kind enough to take Lafferty in. According to the puppy’s owner, Lafferty picked up the nine-week-old puppy and tried to walk out the door.

After the pup’s owner told Lafferty to let the puppy go, the woman placed the pup on a chair and strangled him, while stating, “I am God, and I am here to end his misery.”

Even when the police arrived to the residence, Lafferty refused to release her grip on the puppy’s throat – she had to be pried loose from his neck.

Lafferty’s sentence includes one year in jail for the harassment charge and two years and four months in prison for killing the puppy – the judge ordered the sentences to be served consecutively.

  1. Horrible bitch I hope she is strangled & dies a cruel death evil bitch she is an ugly witch poor puppy I pray for puppy to rest in heaven bg

  2. Wow! A judge who gave this “thing” more than a slap on the wrist. I hope she makes a lot of dog friends in the 4 years she is in jail and begs for mercy (which she didn’t show this poor puppy). So many sick people in this world walking among us and never know when someone will snap. Judges need to weigh crimes like this heavily and not with a fine or limited jail time. This is a start.

  3. Yippee!!!!!Finally justice for an animal abuser!!!Hope your ready for the “girls” in prison!!!Ha,ha,ha,although looking at your picture they’ll have to be pretty hard up.Girls, meet your new bitch!!!!

  4. I’m so glad judges are starting give heavier sentences for animal abusers. I wish she been given an even heavier sentence, but I’m grateful that there is a sentence. For too long animal abusers have been getting by with just a slap on the wrist….so this good…..

    • I agree Debbie, it’s at least a start. We need to work on longer sentences for animal abusers and that will take time.

  5. I’m glad she has been sentenced to jail but what happens when she gets out? She need mental care and I doubt she will get it in jail. I guess we can only hope she runs into “God” while in prison and they are there to “end her misery”.

  6. She definitely looks like a mental case. I think she’s dangerous and should be admitted to a mental institutional after she does her time in prison’

  7. She is just another psychopathic dog killer. I can smell her from here because she is vile sewer scum POS! She should of got 10 yrs. She needs to return to the sewer from which she slivered out from when she is released. F*CKING SCUM BAG!

  8. Hopefully, some dog lover in prison will hear about what she did and give her the same treatment. She deserves no less than what she gave. There is no place for her in this or any other world where unconditional love is rewarded with cruelty and death.
