Senior shepherd too sad to wake up
Spread the love

On February 14, a senior German shepherd dubbed “Heidi,” arrived at the Baldwin Park Animal Services facility in California. Amazingly, nobody ever came the shelter to claim this lovely dog as their own.

Heidi (aka Frederick, and no, I don’t know why she was given that name) is believed to be 12 years of age – according to a woman who recently paid Heidi a visit, shelter life has made this lovely senior dog quite sad. So sad, in fact, that she would not wake up to greet her visitor.

The following information was posted to Facebook:

Heidi also known as Fredrick, is a 12 year old female German Shepherd who came into the Baldwin Shelter as a stray on 2/14/17. Heidi became available on 3/7/17 and you can visit her in kennel B317. Heidi is very sad and wouldn’t wake up at all. It’s hard to believe her family didn’t come looking for this special girl.

Please help Heidi find a new home by taking a moment to share her adoption information.

Animal control won’t return family’s dog -claims that the German shepherd is part wolf. Read the story here.

  1. PLEASE some kindhearted person step up and adopt Heidi – senior dogs make excellent pets – not too active, will snuggle w/you and are so grateful for someone’s kindness – you will never regret adopting her.

      • Someone didn’t comprehend what they read. What makes you think she only read the headline? This poor girl absolutely needs someone to give her a home for as many days as she has left on this earth. I’d take her if I could but I live on the opposite coast and my building doesn’t allow dogs that big. I really hope she finds a forever home soon.

  2. Je la prendrais bien avec moi, mais j’habite en France, alors, je souhaite qu’elle trouve rapidement une famille pleine d’amour pour elle. Merci.

  3. She is a beautiful girl. She looks like she is healthy and has many more years of love to give. Don’t let her die here, so sad, scared and all alone with no one to love her. She doesn’t deserve this. She needs a loving home fot the rest of her years.

  4. Whish you a careful foreverhome Heidie ????you deserves this ????????????????????Big Hug from Sweden ❤❤❤❤

  5. Are any of you actually trying to save Heidi or just posting here? All the shelter dogs that are written about by Pet Rescue Report desperately need all of our help to get out of the shelters alive. Please help by sharing their Facebook page on your wall and ask your friends to help share. The dogs will appreciate it.

  6. She has come to this place to die! Once upon a time she was loved cherished needed! How she came to this place and why? The only thing she knows is this is where her story ends unless someone comes to save her! Will you be the one who saves her life?

  7. I would love to have her. My dog looked almost exactly like her. She was 12 but died in October 2016. I live in Michigan. I have no idea how I would get her here. My love was shepherd akita mix and her tail flipped up in a curl. There faces are almost identical!

    • Kim, If you call the shelter that has “Heidi”, I am sure people will help you to get her to Michigan. (lots of people are involved in transporting dogs across the country) Please try. You sound like a very kind person.

    • there are organizations who would work with you to get her across the country. Call the shelter where she is and let them know you are interested in taking her but will need to be given contact info for groups that will help transport her. Good Luck…hope you get Heidi!

    • Kim….I drove from California to Michigan and it’s only a 3-day trip. You could even fly there and rent a car to drive back, if time is limited. Many hotels welcome dogs (www.bringfido.com petswelcome.com). Just think of the fun road trip you’ll have with your new buddy. Sounds like she may be meant for you and you may be just the Angel created for her. I’m sorry for your loss.
