A handsome dog was recently picked up as a stray and taken to a South Texas animal shelter near Corpus Christi. The dog’s striking good looks led staff to believe that the dog (dubbed Henry) would be claimed, but alas, nobody arrived to the animal control facility to claim him as their own.

Now, Henry is a death row dog. On Thursday morning, the volunteer-run Facebook page, Nueces County, Tx: Dogs in Need of Rescue, wrote:

HIS THREE DAYS HAVE COME
AND GONE…

We thought for sure someone would snatch up handsome Henry. No one has called to save him! This gorgeous shepherd mix is young, calm and friendly. Great with other dogs. That three day stray hold comes and goes so fast. Henry now sits OUT OF TIME at a very FULL kill shelter. Call NOW for Henry.

Henry did nothing wrong, but he may pay for being a stray with his life – please help share Henry’s information, you may save his life.

Nothing much to do for the dog if you do not make a post on Facebook so cross posters can share to rescues . Why put it here? Most dogs put in articles just die because they are not going through proper channels like fb to be seen and cross posted. They need fb exposure for rescues. And you rarely put updates.

And the small area to click to fb is very small, needs to be seen easier .. sometimes nothing is available when we click on it, an update on the dog should beeported, even if rescued or killed.

Yes, something needs to change with how little time these sweeties are given in shelters. They are not being fair to the poor animal. It’s not their fault their human failed them. Someone please close by rescue this beautiful dog.

Please read this article about Henry, a sweet dog out of time at a very full Texas shelter facing being destroyed ANYTIME if he’s not adopted or rescued. Don’t let him be destroyed for time/space. He needs a foster home, pledges and a rescue group to help him find his furever home. Please help save Henry by sharing his Facebook page on your PUBLIC Facebook page.

This is not right! Henry and all the other pets that are in shelters are there thru no fault of their own! What we as a society must accept is that we owe these animals a life that is free of abuse, and fear! We must take responsibility for their care making sure they are fed given clean water to drink! Their veterinary needs seem to! We are the ones charged with this! The truth is a whole different thing! Shelters are constantly in need of funds, food, blankets and so on! The pets there are on borrowed time! At this point at this place in this time that to me is unacceptable! No healthy animal should be killed because their time is up! As a society we need to change their circumstances! No kill shelters should be the rule not the exception!

Kathleen Drude, you seem on a deeper level in connection with His creatures. I agree – we must remember that everything He touches is a precious gift to us, and we must take the responsibility seriously. Thank you for your words of encouragement.

I’m just now seeing this and can’t believe this shelter is going to kill this stunning dog!! I’m so very afraid they have already killed him! I will NEVER wrap my brain around the fact that killing dogs by the millions is accepted by the people of this country. This does absolutely nothing to fix the problem of over population of dogs! It’s so very wrong and immoral! We are suppose to be a wise and wealthy country and this is the best we can do??? If people would sit down and put their heads together I’m %100 convinced we could come up with a better solution! It should NOT be a human right to breed dogs, abuse dogs, kill dogs, and torture dogs! This problem is not going to go away by itself and it’s going to continue to grow and flourish! But for a select few of Americans, this country doesn’t seem to give a damn or care enough to at least TRY to find new and effective solution to this heartbreaking HUGE problem!!! OH I HOW I PRAY THIS DOG IS STILL ALIVE!!!!!
