Vet asked, "why would you waste money" on this dog

Neglected dog dumped at shelter – vet asks ‘why would you waste money’ on dog?

A badly neglected dog was recently dumped at a shelter in North Carolina. Judging by the looks of the dog’s body, whoever owned him in the past cared little, if any, about his well-being and he was apparently nothing more than garbage to them.

Sadly, after being pulled by a volunteer for Rescue Dogs Rock NYC, a veterinarian who examined the discarded dog seemed to hold the same dismissive and cold opinion. The rescue group wrote:

He saw a vet today close to the shelter prior going to our vet & the vet actually asked the volunteer “why would you waste $ on this dog” to say we are horrified is an understatement. Why would he not matter???!!!! He’s likely lived a life of pain & suffering! Doesn’t he deserve a chance at being a beloved family member?

The dog, dubbed “Thomas,” is no longer going to be treated as if his life does not matter – he is going to finally receive good veterinary care, quality food, and unconditional love. If you would like to help support the organization which is giving Thomas a chance at happiness, you can do so in one of the following ways:

That kind of attitude from a Veterinarian would lose him MY business. They went to him for help and to receive a response like this is totally appalling. Keeping Thomas in our prayers and thank you again Rescue Dogs Rocks NYC for taking on the cases no one else wants and for caring for these poor unfortunate pets that would have no chance if not for you!

How very sad our society is becoming. A doctor that is supposed to help animals says something like this is incomprehensible. What is wrong with people today? What causes them to act that way towards an innocent being that they are supposed to care about?

I wish you could publish that vet’s name for all to see. I can’t imagine taking my pet to a person with that heartless mentality. I wonder why he even went into veterinary medicine. Pitiful. Thank you, Rescue Dogs Rock NYC, for caring for Thomas. I will contribute toward his care and I pray he finds a wonderful new home. God bless all of you and bless your work for these innocent little creatures. May you all flourish!

This vet needs to be outed for the asshole that he is! Pet owners want a vet who will fight for the health and well being of our beloved animals! This jerk seems to be in the field of veterinary medicine to just bring home a pay check! I feel bad for anyone that uses this asshole for their beloved pets!

They need to publish this vets name so other pet owners know not to take their dogs to him. On the Facebook post everyone is looking to find out who this vet is. Please name him.

Yes, Cynthia – this piss poor example of a veterinarian should be outed. If his attitude about a helpless dog is so poor, just imagine how bad his treatment of animals is – it IS all about the money. What a miserable example of a human being he has proven himself to be.

Geez Wendy, it happens far too often and all over this country! I live in San Diego, CA and a obviously neglected dog was found wandering the street! The neighborhood got together and were able to bring him to safety. One couple fell in love with him and took him to a local vet! They asked to adopt him as soon as they arrived at the vet clinic; the clinic scanned him, found a phone number and called the “owner”, who came to pick him up! No questioning of them as to his total neglect, no vet exam, and the pup showed no interest in being with them! The clinic let the POS take the dog!! The couple who had taken this pup to that clinic was sorry they had! NOW there is an entire large neighborhood that will never go there! And it is one of those new factory vet clinics!! This is just one situation, there are many, many more!!!

I had a cat a few years ago that got out of our house and came home very sick. I called my vet at the time and told him what was going on and the response I got was “If he’s still alive tomorrow morning, call and make an appointment and bring him in”. This was years ago where there were maybe 2 vets in our whole area and I couldn’t get a hold of the other one and emergency vets were unheard of. I sat up all night with my sick kitty and about 4:00 am we lost him. I never took another animal to that Vet and after that traveled about an hour away to take my pets to the vet. So the uncaring vets that would make a comment like this are out there, and one that WOULD make a comment like this would NOT get my business.

I might add, that maybe my kitty couldn’t have been saved but at least he could have been put out of his misery, he was literally crying in pain until the end, it was heartbreaking.

This piss poor example of a veterinarian not to mention a human being has shown his lack of compassion and I hope that anyone who used his so called ‘service’ ends it ASAP. This idiot cares about his paycheck and nothing else. Thankfully, Rescue Dogs Rock NYC DOES care and Thomas will now get the loving treatment he so well deserves. And to the maggot who neglected and dumped him, hope you never run into me – I HATE animal abusers.

Why is she/he even a vet? I would be hesitant on bringing my pets to a vet who displays such a negative attitude. Perhaps an AC in vet disguise?
