A Miami Beach man was arrested on Thursday afternoon after neighbors claimed to have witnessed the man beating his puppy to death in broad daylight. And what was the puppy’s crime that he paid with his life? According to witnesses, the man said the puppy defecated in his apartment.
CBCMiami reports Woody Pierre, 20, tied his 25-pound black Labrador retriever puppy to a gate in front of the apartment complex located on Meridian Avenue; then seen repeatedly beating the dog. Miami Beach police spokesman William Collado stated a neighbor heard a dog yelping and crying. When he went to see where the dog was, he saw Pierre hitting and kicking the puppy who had been tied to a fence. When the witness yelled and ran towards him, Pierre ran away.
“He was stomping away at a dog and actually filming what was going on,” Collado reported to the Florida Oracle.
Another witness said when the man started to hit and kick the dog, he called 911.
“I was holding something back from doing anything stupid and figured to get authorities involved because I’m not a cop. I let them handle it,” a witness stated.
When police and fire rescue arrived, they tried to save the dog and rendered first aid. The witness had untied the severely wounded dog and carried it to the front courtyard. Unfortunately the dog died. Police were able to track down the owner of the puppy as Pierre and arrested him a short time later.
Pierre was transported to jail and faces animal cruelty charges. Police are trying to locate the video.
Rest in peace poor puppy.
