According to Thursday’s WRAL News, a North Carolina man who ran a self-described no-kill animal rescue has been arrested on 114 pornography charges. The Hoke County man, identified as 70-year-old Stephen Spear, is facing multiple charges for sexual exploitation of a minor.

Spear’s no-kill animal rescue, The Haven – Friends For Life shelter, was at the center of a huge animal cruelty investigation in January 2016. Dozens of dead animals were found on the Raeford area property and 600 animals were seized by officials. At the time of the raid on the “no-kill” rescue agency, the ASPCA described the horrific conditions that the animals were forced to exist in:

“The animals were kept in filthy kennels, cages, outdoor pens and paddocks, many without protection from the elements. Many animals are suffering from untreated medical issues including open wounds, severe upper respiratory disease and emaciation.”

This is not Spear’s first run-in with the law for pornography related charges – in 2009, he was charged with 18 similar counts while he was working as a teacher at a community college. Spear was arrested and jailed on a $228,000 bond.

Treat him the same way he treated the dogs who were in his “care” – let him suffer and die. He’s of no use to society the way he is now.

POS! He didn’t do jail time for the first offense? Was he on the sex offender’s list? Sicko! His so called “no-kill” rescue what a joke. Poor animals. Hope most were saved.

How can you say, state, that you run a rescue or shelter and the state or town you are in NEVER VERIFIES OR CHECKS OUT THIS COMMENT!?!?!? There should be a way to do surprise checks on these people and make sure the animals are really being cared for…… or is it just more simple to sweet more unwanted fur babies under a rug than check out their “so called” rescuer?

I still say each state needs a main computer to store all of these profiles so that they have a data base that is connected to others that can be referenced also a photo of dog and adoption would be a start chips are fine for dogs not humans need a tracking devices

I send EVERY ONE of these sick articles that come out of North Carolina to the new governor as I did with the old governor. This is one of the most fucked up states in the union. Even though Kentucky has the worst laws for animal protection, North Carolina has the sickest people!!!!
I highly recommend boycotting everything that is made in or comes out of these inbred states and then maybe they will figure out animal cruelty is WRONG. ANYBODY living in N.C. with an IQ over 90??? If there is, they are hiding…………………
