Duct-tape around dog's snout

Man left dog in parked car with duct-tape around dog’s snout

A man in Colorado not only left his dog alone in a parked car at the Durango Community Recreation Center on a warm summer day, but he duct-taped the dog’s snout closed as well. The disturbing incident resulted in the man being cited for cruelty to animals, reported The Journal.

The upsetting situation was discovered on July 18 when a group of friends noticed the dog inside of a parked vehicle and they snapped a photo and then alerted the authorities. Thanks to a photo of the car, and the license plate number, the authorities were able to locate the owner of the car.

A few days later, the dog’s owner, 23-year-old Thomas D. Ethridge was cited. Ethridge claims that he opted to tape the nine-month-old pup’s snout closed to prevent him from eating things inside of his car. The man told the authorities that he was living out of his car and had gone into the rec center to shower.

Ethridge claims that his dog, Appa, is aggressive and that he didn’t want the dog to jump out of one of the vehicle’s open windows to attack someone – the man will have to face his charge in court later this month. If he is convicted, he may lose custody of Appa and be hit with fines and time behind bars, reported KOB News.

Thomas Ethridge SHOULD lose custody of Appa – then hogtie this idiot, gag him and make him sit in his damn car for a few hours – this guy is a waste and his excuses need to fall on deaf ears.

Well if he’s living out of his car, jail might be a better place for him! Food and a place to sleep and he’ll have a long time to think about what he put his dog through! He should lose custody of his dog too!

What an asshole!! This poor dog should of been removed from this jerk! And I think he is most likely lying about the dog being aggressive to cover his abuse! If this YOUNG dog is aggressive I can see why, because this is flat out cruel and abusive! This jerk doesn’t have a home so he DEFINATELY cant afford to properly care for a dog! I hope and pray this dog is rescued and re-homed!

What a bunch of hog wash! I can’t imagine a 9 month old dog being so aggressive that he needs to be muzzled, I can imagine a 9 month old dog chewing up his car (most likely the reason for the duct tape), If the dog did need to be muzzled because of that then go to your local Country Max and get an $8.00 basket muzzle that they can pant, drink water and not chew with (probably not much more than the roll of duct tape). I have a dog that uses one it works fine. Any way you look at it this guy isn’t fit to own a dog and even if he can provide a home for the dog (not his car) I have to wonder what kind of life this poor dog will have! He has show nothing but poor judgment thus far including leaving the dog in a hot car!

This thing still has Appa? Are you people for real? He put duct tape on this babies snout! He left Appa in a car where the temp inside goes over 100 degrees in a matter of minutes! The fact that this moron was able to keep the dog is beyond ridiculous! The fact that these idiot cops did not take this little one into custody where Appa would be safe is ludicrous! These cops should get together with the moron from LNF rescue! They were made for each other!

Please remove this dog from the monster who owns him. It is very evident that Thomas Ethridge is too STUPID and IGNORANT to own a pet. Good grief, just the fact he gets to appear in court over this? That is a waste of time and tax payers money. There is a picture, and he admitted it. LOCK HIM UP AND THROW AWAY THE KEY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

He “MAY ” lose custody of the dog? Really? Just how low can our expectations of pet owners go here for christ’s sake. Is this NOT a clear cut cruelty case. The dog should have been immediately seized from this dangerous ignoramus. Come on Colorado, can’t you do any better than this for animals? Frickin pathetic standards or NO standards should I say. outrageous. Feel anger.
