A 67-year-old man in Springfield, Massachusetts, has been slapped with a $2,500 fine for killing a small, four-pound dog who had wandered into his yard. According to Saturday’s MassLive, the shooter, identified as Freddie Guy, pleaded guilty to a charge of killing or maiming an animal.
Guy’s victim was a tiny, male Chihuahua who wandered away from home and into Guy’s yard – the small dog was shot with a BB gun and died after his lung was punctured. Based upon an investigation, it is believed that Guy stood directly over the dog and fired the gun and then waited as the dog died.
According to a prior publication of MassLive, before the fatal incident, which took place in 2015, there were no complaints on file from Guy about dogs wandering onto his property.
