In Norwich, England the owner of a five-year-old Staffordshire bull terrier, admitted he caused unnecessary suffering to his dog after he drowned her on May 9, prosecutors from the RSPCA told the Norwich Magistrates’ Court on Thursday. Wayne Waithe, 59, claimed he thought his dog named Missy was dead when he put her in the water; the excuse was rejected by magistrates.

According to the Sun, Waithe wrapped the dogs legs in a backpack making it unable to swim. Her lifeless body was discovered by a passerby near the Helliesdon Bridge – her legs wrapped in a navy blue backpack and her body wrapped in a dark green jacket. Only her head had been left exposed. A necrospy stated the dog had been alive when placed in the water:

“It was alive and breathing when put in the river,” the prosecutor for the case stated. “As it was bound up, it was unable to swim to safety.”

The necropsy also revealed Missy had a large tumor on her belly. When Waithe was tracked down as the owner of Missy, he first told authorities his dog had died and ordered officers off of his property. Prosecutors stated he deliberately drowned his dog because he didn’t want to pay a vet to humanely euthanize her. Waithe’s attorney stated his client did not intend to cause Missy to suffer and thought she had died a peaceful death in her sleep.

The question of course remains – why was Missy tied up?

Waithe has been banned from owning any pets for the next ten years, given a six-week sentence which has been suspended for a year. He was also fined, ordered to pay the vet bill for the necropsy and pay a victim’s surcharge.

Rest in peace Missy.

  1. I CAN JUST LOOK AT THE PHOTO TO SEE WHAT A LOW LIFE SCUMBAG THIS USELESS POS IS TO DROWN HIS DOG. I HOPE HE ROTS SOON. TOO BAD HIS MOTHER DIDN’T TIE HIS LEGS TOGETHER AND DROWN HIM WHEN HE WAS A FUCKED UP YOUNGSTER.

  2. Another prime example of what a useless waste the RSPCA is – SIX WEEKS for the cruelty this hunk of pond scum inflicted on Missy is deplorable – this bastard should be sitting in prison for ten years. He knew damn well the dog was not dead otherwise there would be no need to tie her up – he is a friggin’ liar and I hope the piss poor sentence of six weeks is one where he is victimized to the point he does the world a favor and commits suicide.

    • Exactly….if she was already dead, why tie her legs? He’s a lying POS who needs to suffer a slow, torturous death. There’s a special place waiting for him in Hell.

  3. 6 WEEKS??? That’s all?????? He deserves to be put away for a very long time and then at the end of the sentence he needs to be bound up and drowned to see how it feels and how Missy suffered as her life ended. RIP Missy.

  4. MONSTER!!!

Every single time a judge fails to follow the law and allows scum like this to stay out of jail, even when the sentence is LIGHT, as this one was, it gives the next monster permission to do the same thing to their pet!

Judges are just as responsible as filth like this when they fail to abide by the laws when sentencing scum who commit evil and violent acts against innocent and helpless victims.

  5. All I can hope is this POS dies a slow, torturous death. He needs to suffer as much as Missy did – and to feel her fear as she drowned. If he didn’t want to pay vet bills, then why did he get a dog in the first place? I have two elderly Yellow Labs with significant health problems. I’ve already spent $7,500 this year for food, vet care, supplements, and aids (such as traction boots); I don’t begrudge one nickel of it because my dogs are my kids. RIP Missy – I’m so sorry, baby girl.

  6. Someone should tie his legs and hands up and throw him in the lake to see how he survives. Give him nothing less than what he gave his loyal dog. Jackass, didn’t want to pay vet. bill to treat or euthanize, now he has to pay more than that plus pray he gets extensive jail time too.

  7. BULL CRAP!!!!!!!!!! This extra monstrous A.H. deserves to spend time LOCKED UP!!! He drowned that poor dog!!! How in the name of all that is holey can you release this monster back out into the world!!??
