Washington authorities are searching for the person who shot a man in rural Mason County who was dragging a dead animal. According to Q13 News, the animal that the man was dragging was a dead raccoon – he had found the carcass and intended to put it in a crab pot as bait.

But someone who saw the unusual scene apparently thought that the man was dragging a dead dog and decided to dole out vigilante justice – shooting the man twice in the leg.

According to KOMO News, the bizarre incident took place last Sunday along Highway 3 north of Allyn – the shooter, and others had confronted the man about the dead animal, believing that the raccoon was actually a deceased dog.

Now the authorities are seeking information about the person who took matters into their own hands – the suspect was in a dark-colored Ford extended cab truck, model year 1992 to 1997, with a canopy. If anyone has information about the truck, suspect or the overall situation, they are asked to contact the Mason County Sheriff’s Office at 360-427-9670 x327. Of note, the authorities have stated that the suspect is considered to be armed and dangerous and should not be confronted by members of the public.

  1. How correct is thus story , the man is not going to admit killing the animal regardless , thousands of animals get murdered or shot trapped and worse , sorry but 1 for the animal !!!

  2. I wish every single cruel, brutal animal abuser in existance would have to recieve and endure the exact same brutality they inflicted upon the animal,if they die in the process so be it!

  3. I hate to say I support the shooter. Too much animal cruelty makes us crazy, so for all you assholes who like to drag animals watch out you might get shot. Courts dont do enough so I think it’s high time peop.e take it into their own hands. And! Why would you drag the raccoon anyways? Was that humane???? He’ll no it wasnt!!!!
