In a disturbing case of animal cruelty, a 20-year-old Cowichan Valley man has been charged with drugging and abusing a neighbor’s cat with MDMA (ecstasy), shaving her, bleaching her hair and throwing her out a window.

According to the Vancouver Island News, John Lemire has been charged with causing unnecessary pain and suffering to an animal. Authorities say another arrest is likely to occur.

Sharline Haglund, the owner of her family’s one-year-old cat, Gigi received Snapchat photos from friends of her cat being shaved and abused on Tuesday. One of the images read:

“Your cat loves molly.” (ecstasy)

Gigi had been missing all of Tuesday, and the family had been worried their cat had been given the drug and had died. Early that evening, however someone found Gigi and brought her back to her family. According to Sharline, everything the men stated in the Snapchat video they would do to her cat, they did:

  • Gigi had been shaved
  • The number 666 had been written in her ear
  • There were bleach marks on her fur

A veterinarian has confirmed Gigi tested positive for MDMA. The RCMP and the SPCA are involved in the investigation. The public is being urged not to take matters into their own hands no matter how disturbing the incident.

Gigi’s condition has not been updated.

  1. I hope that John Lemire and the people that helped him get treated with extreme prejudice! Evil monsters should not ever be free to roam in public!

  2. Exactly how much investigation is needed since this fucking punk decided to snapshot his cruelty? There are some cases where vigilante justice is needed since authorities do little to nothing when it comes to animal cruelty. This punk needs a massive dose of his own medicine – including being thrown out of a window – please make it at least 4 stories – Gigi deserves justice which if left up to the RCMP and the SPCA will amount to nothing.

  3. I so agree arrest all that are involved in this horrendous crime and put them in adult population !! Drug them up and get them tortured hope the cat is ok please keep your animals inside their care fucking idiots crazy out there karma bad karma for these asshole scumbags
