A Missouri man has been arrested after authorities in Douglas County viewed video on Tuesday which showed him allegedly beating a litter of newborn puppies to death with a baseball bat. According to Thursday’s Ky3 News, the graphic video showed the man bludgeoning the small black and white puppies until they were dead.
The man has not been named, but the police have had disturbing interactions with him in the past. In fact, based on a previous violent encounter with the man, the authorities arrested the suspect during a planned traffic stop, in an effort to avoid what happened before.
Douglas County Sheriff Chris Degase described the previous time the police arrested this man:
“He was combative; he had a 22. We ended up, I believe 96 hour committing him for a mental evaluation, and then really haven’t had any contact with him since then. But that incident there was tense. I believe he was tased twice,”
Sheriff Degase believes that the accused puppy killer is suffering from some type of mental disorder. The suspect has admitted that he was diagnosed with paranoid schizophrenia, but he has stated that he doesn’t believe that he has the mental condition, and has never taken prescribed medication for it.
