In Tavares, Florida, police arrested a man and charged him with animal cruelty on Friday night. James Miller is alleged to have caged a raccoon and then drowned the animal because it killed some of his chickens and damaged his home.
According to Click Orlando, the Lake County Sheriff’s Office was notified by a woman who witnessed her neighbor take a raccoon in a cage onto his boat and then dropped the cage into the water. The woman, reportedly told the man to stop and said it was inhumane and instead he should have called animal services to deal with the animal. The raccoon was submerged for several minutes – killing it.
When Miller’s wife was questioned, she told police the raccoon had killed some of her chickens and later ran into their house. Miller was later arrested and taken into custody.
Rest in peace raccoon.
