The daughter and granddaughter of Malcolm X, an African-American Muslim minister and human rights activist, are accused of dog abuse and theft of a truck, reported Friday’s NBC 4 Washington News. The accused women, identified as 51-year-old Malikah Shabazz, and her 19-year-old daughter, Bettih Shabazz, were arrested on Wednesday night in La Plata, Maryland.

The pair were in a stolen rental truck which was holding several pit bulls who were injured and stacked in crates – the conditions inside of the truck were described as “inhumane.” The stolen U-Haul was discovered after an officer in Prince George’s County ran the plates and discovered that the vehicle had been reported stolen from Vermont earlier the same day.

The stolen truck, and the women, were found later that night in Charles County at a Wal-Mart parking lot. The seven pit bulls in the truck were taken to an area animal shelter for care. The women were arrested and later released on bail.

  1. I don’t care who you are, if you abuse animals or children and engage in illegal activity, you should be held accountable by law.

  2. human rights activist? Gosh Malcolm X was a racist Muslims. Hated whites, hated Jews, and wanted everybody to bow down to him. He was a horrible human being. Now so are his daughters.
