In Hohenwald, Tennessee, a Good Samaritan spent four days trying to lure a loyal dog from a mailbox where he was abandoned by his owner. The kind woman who had been feeding the friendly Australian pooch stated he liked other dogs and was well-behaved.
If anyone thinks dogs are loyal only because they depend upon their humans to provide food and shelter, researchers profess a different scenario; that dogs are fiercely loyal because they evolved as pack animals. According to Dr. Stephen Zawistowski, former science adviser for the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, once dogs move “into our homes and into our lives, our families have become their pack.” And it’s never a matter of how much we give to our dogs – dogs are just happy to be loved, and every moment we spend with them just makes them love us more; thus we perceive dogs just as happy cuddling up to their homeless person on a street corner or living in a mansion on a king-sized bed.
