The curly white stray dog came from somewhere, but no one has arrived at the Carson Animal Care Center to claim little Billy. The unkempt poodle showed up in his tartan sweater, and everyone hoped his family would be searching for him by calling all the local shelters and visiting animal rescue websites anxious to be reunited. Since February 9, 12-year-old Billy had been waiting at the front of his cage. The moment he heard noise or movement – he quickly rushed to the front hoping; wishing his family had finally arrived. Sadly all of that recently changed; too many disappointments, and now Billy barely looks up when someone approaches his kennel cage. The sadness and utter despair shows in his tiny face and in those deep brown eyes.
Click here for Billy’s Pet Harbor listing. “My name is Billy and I am described as a male, white Poodle – Miniature. The shelter thinks I am about 12 years old. I have been at the shelter since Feb 09, 2017.” For more information about this dog, call the Los Angeles County Animal Control – Carson at (310) 523-9566. Ask for information about animal ID number A5032277. It is unknown if Billy’s owner died, and he was just dropped off at the shelter or even if his owner may be elderly and doesn’t know how to make use of the Internet to find her lost dog.
A Facebook page for Billy can be followed here. Sadly, there hasn’t been much attention or interest for Billy, and senior dogs rarely have a line at the door to adopt them. Please share Billy’s plight with approved rescue organizations, friends, family and social media contacts. Sharing saves lives. Won’t you help?
For further information, contact the Carson Shelter located at 216 Victoria Street, Gardena, California. Phone: 310.523.9566.

OMG he looks just like my late dog Elvis. Hoping for a forever home for Billy.
Vite, une famille pour ce coeur plein d’amour ????????
Why doesn’t some one cut his hair and clean him up. I hope someone takes that sweet darling home with them. He deserve better than a cage to live and die in. Please saber hom
Believe Me Carson doesn’t do much in the way of really trying to find homes for these poor animals it is like Baldwin, and another shelter in Southern California… They are Kill, Kill, Kill & more Kill!!! Any dog leaving those places are Truly LUCKY!!! to MAKE IT OUT!!! One reason I hate that STATE!!1
This little old man is probably not going to go back to the home he knew! Too often what happenes is the owner either passes away or has been transferred to a nursing home! The pet who is left behind suffers! The plight of senior pets is not a happy one! Older pets are great, they are housebroken, generally a lot calmer and for most people a wonderful addition! Too often though all people see is puppies, older dogs tend to be more laid back so they don’t call attention to themselves! Please think of adopting an older pet they are wonderful companions!
I appreciate that…big THANX! I always say “I LOVE MY SENIORS BEST!”????????????
I adopted a “young senior” Yellow Lab (he was 8-1/2 years old) 2 years ago. He’s a maniac! That dog has a ton of energy (although he does calm down faster than a young dog). I love my senior Labs (he’s my 2nd Yellow Lab that I adopted as a senior). You’re so right….seniors are wonderful companions.
sharing billy ~ praying his family comes for him <3 <3
I would love to adopt Billy if someone could get him to the St Louis area. I will call the shelter tomorrow but if someone reads this that can help please contact me. I could give him an excellent home with two little dogs for friends. I have references including my vet.
