Left behind broken pup stared in the window until his special blanket arrived

When Daijon was left behind after his owners moved from Moreno Valley, the broken little dog, with the saddest eyes couldn’t get back into his home. He couldn’t understand why the doors and the windows were closed, but several times a day he would look inside and whimper as if questioning where his family could have gone?

When that didn’t work, he would try to get into the backyard; instead he slept on the side of the house.

“I watched him look up longingly at the window of what was once his home and could see the new owners so he would hang his head and sleep on the side of the house. I was so relieved once I rescued him,” described Faith Easdale, who volunteers with Dream Fetchers: Project Rescue.

The new owners of the home had a pit bull who wasn’t dog friendly, so they reached out for help. Sadly, mean-spirited children in the neighborhood tormented Daijon; that is until Faith chased them away and spent the rest of the day trying to figure out how to rescue this hurting little soul.

“This little man is sitting next to me not realizing the magnitude of what just happened. He only wondered if more pain was about to take place,” Faith posted on her Facebook page on September 4, hoping to find a qualified foster parent to help. “He is literally falling asleep standing. Goodnight little one. You’re safe. Your next family will not abandon you.”

And now just three weeks later, Daijon’s life has changed. Safely fostered with Stephanie Vegas in Menifee, the sweet little dog is slowly learning to trust again. On Friday, a special gift arrived for Daijon. A woman had read his story and made him a special prayer blanket. A note was included:

“Sweet Dijon,

It was a honour to make your special prayer blanket. It’s filled with lots of love and many prayers. I hope it brings you comfort, healing and warmth as you are wrapped in it. All of us members of Fur Angel Blessing Blanketeers love you and have prayed for you and have blessed this blanket for you. We pray that God will bring healing and comfort to you sweet Dijon! Hope you like your blanket, it was my pleasure to make it just for you!  Much love Caprice Messer & FABB.

  1. ANYONE who abandons an animal in any way needs to be found and thrown into Prison to see how they like being abandoned!!! This is just HORRIBLE!!! I hope you find a new Loving Home!!!! God Bless You for saving him!!!!

  2. The owners who abandoned this poor dog should be put in prison along with the sadistic children who tormented him! They are all an extreme danger to society!

    • Absolutely agree with you Mary Ann Clark. What are parents teaching their brats..so many deadbeats in this world..this is just a heart-breaking tear jerker situation.

  3. Glad he’s been rescued. They need to track down the owners who abandoned him and charge them! Make THEM sit outside their house day after day – not given any food or bed or anything. Then after a couple of weeks, send them to jail.

    • Sounds good to me. I adopted a dog a year ago that was also left behind when the owner moved away. He is a wonderful dog, but he is anxious about his food. He is still afraid of not getting his meals. I wish I could do the same to the scumbag that abandoned him.

  4. Why do people do this leaving their animals behind?!?! Is it they don’t want to pay the shelter fee when they turn their dog over to them or are they just that heartless that they couldn’t care less what happened to a small (or big) dog left on the streets to fend for itself which in the end can end in death (either hit by a car or killed by another animal or even evil people)? I am so happy this pup found a foster and someday soon a forever home.

  5. How do people move away and leave their dog behind? I have more respect for the ones that give them to a kill shelter, but to leave the poor thing alone outside is abhorrent! I’m glad Daijon has been rescued and safe, I hope and pray there is a loving family in her future!

  6. Those human cockroaches who left this little dog behind should be sitting in jail – THANK GOD there was someone who cared enough to help him – and to those punks who thought it was fun to torment him – they are well on the road to thugdom – I hope this poor little guy gets his forever home and the aholes who left him end up in a swamp.
