Why did you leave me? Where have you gone? On July 15, an 11-year-old dog was left by her owner at the Baldwin Park Animal Services facility in California. Whoever left this senior dog did not even provide the facility with her name.

Nearly two weeks have passed and the un-named girl still waits inside of her kennel run. Undoubtedly waiting for her person to return and take her back home. Unfortunately, that person is not coming back.

The circumstances surrounding this old girl’s surrender are unknown – maybe her owner got sick, or was moved into a nursing home. Or perhaps they just decided that they no longer had time for her.

This dog needs the help of strangers if she is to find her way out of the shelter and into a new home – few people walk into an animal shelter seeking out a dog who is in the twilight of her life.

  1. Breaks my heart, no dog should be dumped – and no name? People are cruel & hopefully someone will foster or send her up to Spokane, my doggy came from Baldwin, I love old timers – they are so sweet. Thx for sharing her plight

  2. I Can’t figure out why Stupid Owners want to Turn over their Pet that was a Family Member for Years??? I would never think of doing this to my Dog. They are your Family for Life. Some People just don’t get it. Karma will get after this Family.

  3. I personally don’t care what circumstances made someone leave this elderly dog at a kill shelter. I don’t believe ANY circumstance justifies this! I would like to know also why the shelter taking in the dog doesn’t ask and at least get the dog’s name and age. If it’s a stray that is one thing but if this was a surrender that information should be obtained, at least they can address the scared dog with it’s name! I will be sharing this dog in New York State, and only wish there is more I could do!

  4. Chances are she was dumped because she’s old. I’m so sick of how society frowns on “old” – hope this pretty girl finds a new home soon. She deserves it.

  5. Too sad for words. I never understood why people would dump their senior pets in shelters. I hope this frosted face girl gets a forever home where she can live out her remaining years with love and comfort.

  6. Seniors are usually not adopted! Why? Who knows, considering the fact they are house broken, they enjoy walks but like being peaceful more! They have so much love to give, and yet the shelter is where most of them die!

    • Most people don’t want to deal with end of life issues. I adopted a 12 year old American Bully who had been crated most of his life, and two senior Great Danes (one with heartworm and one malnourished with a severe respiratory infection) – they’ve been with me for two years now. I will stick with older dogs, but most people think I am crazy because they won’t be around long. I try to explain that it’s not about me, it’s about them. They deserve a good final chapter in their lives.

  7. Abandonment is the epitome of cruelty and every low life that’s does it needs to suffer for the rest of their life

  8. POS owners deserve to burn in Hell forever for their cruelty…… hope they get there sooner than later…… and after an excruciating, painful and terrifying death………

Senior furbabies are treasures…….. I would give anything to have had more time with my precious little treasured prince MacKitty. I can NOT understand how anyone can abandon a treasured family member……. WTF is wrong with people???

I hope she can be rescued (& enjoy her remaining years as a beloved and treasured family member)……
All furbabies deserve to be as loved and treasured as my precious MacKitty………

Breaks my heart to learn of seniors who are spending their last days in a shelter (afraid and alone AND worst of all, unloved as they die)………
