Last call for bait dog

Update: Safe!

A dog, suspected of being subjected to torturous abuse as a bait dog, has been given a dire warning of “last call.” The dog, dubbed “Fred,” has been at the Miami-Dade Animal Services facility in Florida since January.

On Thursday, one of Fred’s social networking advocates wrote:

Sweet baby Fred was found as a stray with multiple bites on his body. Channel 6 promoted this sweet boy being used as a bait dog . He has since healed up but now he has URI. Now he is last call as in Code Red! Can this boy not get a break :'( he is sweet, gentle, docile and now just giving up. He needs a rescue or adopter.

After two months, locked away in a lonely kennel run, Fred has given up hope that anyone cares about him – much less that anyone will come to save him from his current situation. Please help turn Fred’s fate around by taking a moment to network his adoption information.

  1. Hello little one! This isn’t fair to get away from scum just to be told your time is almost up? Please adopt or foster this special boy! Don’t let him die!

  2. There has to be other groups to network with and move him. Please don’t kill him. And this goes for all death row and not dogs and animals. Please update. Thanks

  3. He prob scared wit all the other dogs that are barking, he was a bait dog ???????? I would so take him if I lived in FL

    • You can adopt with a Rescue to assist you. If you’re serious about saving him pm me, friend me, ask for help on his post in the comments section. I adopted dogs from California Texas and NY. I Live in Massachusetts

  4. OMG! WHY? This poor dog didn’t ask for the miserable life he has been forced to endure at the hands of some scum bag human!!! This baby is in one of the most awful kill shelter out there,I’m really SHOCKED that they let him live this long! I have three senior fur babies and if it wasn’t for the high cost of vet care I would have four or five fur babies!! Due to health issues I live with my 83yr old Dad and when I lose him I’m will start fostering. I TRUELY believe fostering saves lives!! Boy I’m praying for this sweet dog who has not done anything in life to deserve a death sentence!

  5. Okay I have also emailed the NY Bully Crew which also saves pitbulls and gets them the medical attention they need & to get them a good home too! Hopefully I will hear back from them about rescuing this sweet baby.

  6. I cannot understand why Miami-Dade is so willing to just sentence Fred to death – if any dog deserves a chance, he does – he has suffered so much. PLEASE HELP FRED!

  7. Unfortunately, FRED is considered a BAD/DANGEROUS DOG here in Miami Dade county and unless someone from Broward county or upwards adopts him, there he will stay! Once again it’s the b***sh** Pitbull ban that has existed for a f****** 29 years that prevents us from saving this beautiful boy! PLEASE EVERYONE READING THIS BECOME INVOLVED WITH THE MIAMI COALITION AGAINST BREED SPECIFIC LEGISLATION AND MAKE SURE YOU LIKE THEIR FACEBOOK PAGE. It’s up to us to fight for all the “Fred’s” in shelters and presently in loving homes so that they can live in peace here in Miami Dade once in for all!!!

  8. Bless his heart. If I was closer I would pull him and save him. I hope someone can save him after all he has gone thru he needs a couch to lay on and a hand to love him….

  9. Miami Dade breed specific ban kills so many poor sweet innocent dogs. If someone does not call to Reserve Or go to pick up sweet innocent Fred he doesn’t have a life

  10. I have called several times to try and get information on Fred and cannot get anywhere with the automated system. I would give anything to give him a good home. Please someone contact me about Fred. [email protected] thank you

  11. Ok this is what is so frustrating to folks when an SOS is sent out on a dog and folks want to help but are unsuccessful in reaching anyone that has information and aren’t contacted back.I know Fred isn’t the only dog in harm’s way but he is the one that was posted. Please don’t let him slip thru the cracks because there isn’t any follow up. There are several offers to help him.

    • If interested in dog call main number with dogs id #..please keep trying, look up online for another main number, never going to get this place on a weekend…sooo ridiculous if this dog gets put down. I’m going to follow up, if I have to fly there!
