On Monday, the Humane Society of the United States announced the offering of a large reward for information in the animal cruelty case involving the beating death of an elderly dog in Missouri.  Lora Kingery’s 17-year-old dog, “Snowball,” was savagely beaten while tethered to the porch of his home in Excelsior Springs on March 21.

Amanda Good, Missouri state director for The HSUS stated:

“This savage act shows complete contempt for an innocent creature like Snowball and all the humans who cared for this beloved dog. We hope this reward will motivate someone to come forward so that justice can be served.”

Snowball did not immediately die from the beating – he was taken to a veterinarian for care, but after three days, the injuries proved to be fatal. The Excelsior Springs Police Department is investigating the cruelty case;  Excelsior Springs Police Staff Sergeant Larry Tarrant expressed gratitude for the offering of the $5,000 HSUS reward, “We are very thankful for the generous reward being offered in this case by The Humane Society of the United States. We hope the additional reward will motivate any witnesses, or others with information about this crime, to come forward and provide what they know to police.”

Anyone with information about this case is asked to call the Investigations Division at (816) 630-2000.

The HSUS Animal Cruelty Campaign raises public awareness and educates communities about the connection between animal cruelty and human violence while providing a variety of resources to law enforcement agencies, social work professionals, educators, legislators and families. The HSUS offers rewards in animal cruelty cases across the country and works to strengthen laws against animal cruelty.

The National Sheriffs’ Association and The HSUS launched ICE BlackBox, a free smartphone tool, to allow users to record video of illegal animal cruelty and share it securely with law enforcement for possible investigation and prosecution.

  1. There are beings in this world who have no right to breath and the hunk of sewer slime that did this to a senior dog is at the top of the list – I truly hope someone there knows who this is and will turn them in – and I also hope no one waits for the judicial system to slap this bastard on the wrist, just nail them to a tree and use them as target practice – they deserve no less.

  2. Such a beautiful dog. It’s a shame he had to die this way. I want to beat the crap out of this person who killed Snowball.

  3. This is an evil sick world where an old dog isn’t safe in his back yard. Don’t leave your dogs alone and don’t tie them up so they can’t run away. Please find the scum bag that beat this poor dog. Demons are for ptusons.

  4. They really need to find the POS that did this, I wish I knew I wouldn’t need a reward to turn their sorry arses in! This whole story is just heartbreaking!

  5. There are so many wicked children of Satan predators out there now. Please keep your cats indoors. Please only let your dogs out if supervised. Please walk your dogs on a leash. People are going over fences to abuse and kill animals. We have to be proactive to protect our pets. Times have changed.

  6. This is extremely heartbreaking and horrific! This poor innocent dog died a horrific, agonizing painful, savage, and cruel death while peacefully resting on his own porch. My heart bleeds for the excruciating pain, terror, fear, and betrayal this helpless sweet senior dog suffered from the evil hands of that disgusting sub-human monster! Such a horrible, brutal, and heinous way to end an innocent sweet soul’s life. The heartless evil monster that did this disgusting savage murder is extremely dangerous and must be found and prosecuted to the maximum extent! Throw that dangerous, despicable evil monster in prison and throw away the key! Please, please investigate and locate that evil monster because that scumbag will brutally torture and savagely kill more defenseless animals (and even people)! Rest in Sweet Heavenly Peace, Angel Snowball, you are now in the tender loving care of Jesus. Play with the Angels in Heaven’s soft white fluffy clouds. Angel Snowball, I am praying for your deserved justice. Angel Snowball, you are loved and you will not be forgotten. RIP, Precious Pup ♥️⛅️????????????☁️♥️

  7. Senior Snowball suffered a brutal, cruel, painful and savage death! The POS scumbag that perpetrated this evil and heinous murder on this poor innocent dog is extremely dangerous and must be located and severely punished! Snowball deserves justice. Rest in Peace at Rainbow Bridge, Angel Snowball. ♥️????????????????????????????????????♥️????????????????????????????????????

    • Feet first – to prolong their agony. (Forgive me, Lord but you know how I feel about these subhuman children of Satan.)

  8. Poor thing!! I have to ask, WHERE was owner during the time of the beating and WHY was the poor thing tied to the porch alone? How long was he out there…alone? This is why people need to stop tethering their pets and leaving them outside alone.

  9. I say this all the time. DO NOT LEAVE YOUR PRECIOUS DOG OUTSIDE. IF YOU ARE NOT OUTSIDE TAKE HIM IN WITH YOU. There is so much abuse out there so get it thru your heads!!!!

    • I have signed petitions to try to make chaining an animal illegal. Of course, none have passed. Dogs are simply lawn ornaments to some of these folks.

  10. This poor baby went thru excruciating pain. The whole time he was thinking “where is my Mommy” He had to be scared to death. By the way….where were you at owners?? I’d give anything to know that. And if you left that baby outside 24/7…… SHAME ON YOU. THAT’S NOT LOVE!!!!!

  11. Although we live in a rural area This last fall WE put a coded gate across our entryway…. I am retired and home most of the time and my husband works 4 days a week… we have a renter on the property , but lately I have had a few cars drive right thru and up to our house, SO IT was time…. I know if someone wanted to maim and kill they still could , but it would be much more difficult… it is sad when you have to live this way to feel safe and protect your animals….. we have a vested interest in keeping our horses and dogs as safe as possible….. Missouri has become a Hell Hole!!!

    • I know that Missouri has more puppy mills than any state. It’s a shame that we have to take such extreme precautions to protect ourselves and our pets.

      • Our state is not noted for having puppy mills, and we most certainly don’t , our dogs are all quite old and rescued, as are the horses and of course the Molly Mule we are harboring at the present time…. it simply scares me that someone may come and attempt to harm the animals if we are gone, and the electric gate closure discourages people just driving in …. I also have a permit to carry as does my husband… which I never thought I would , but as you said , NOW is a TIME we as American Citizens NEED To protect our property and ourselves as no one else is going to.. and the examples of the 12 year olds burning a dog alive is PROOF of just where we are as a Society and Nation

      • Pennysdachsund – I must disagree. Missouri has more puppy mills than any state. In fact, it is known as the “Puppy Mill Capital of the U.S.”.

      • Well SCREW YOUR head on REV. I live thousands of miles north and west of Missouri: OUR STATE is NOT NOTED for HAVING PUPPY MILLS , I DO not HAVE and NEVER had a PUPPY MILL , our State has only been mentioned with a case of abuse one time on pet rescue, and a horrific fire in a breeder kennel…. >> When I said Missouri was a Hell Hole I was speaking of the post about the dog getting beat to death on his own porch…. Now is that straight… OUR state is sparsely populated , Now Montana a neighboring state is trying desperately to curtail several puppy mills in the North Western part of that state. IN fact My vet, myself ,and my husband were there about ten years ago to testify for the US government against owners of a puppy mill … We are very proactive in fighting animal abuse of any sort!!!!

      • Google it. I stand by what I have said. Missouri has more puppy mills than any state and is renowned as the Puppy Mill Capital of the U.S.
