Kentucky man arrested after beagles found starving to death

A Leitchfield, Kentucky man faced multiple animal cruelty charges on Monday after the Grayson County Sheriff’s Office seized several beagles from his home that were in need of “serious veterinary care.”

According to WdrbNews, Greg Rigdon, 56, has been charged with second-degree animal cruelty. An adult beagle and four puppies are now in the care of Leitchfield Veterinarian Clinic where it was originally thought one of the dogs would have to be humanely euthanized. Thanks to the dedicated staff however, the dog was given around-the-clock emergency treatment and medication, and is expected to survive. Currently the puppy is being fostered.

Sheriff Norman Chaffins reminds everyone there are no excuses for not taking care of the animals people take in.

“Some people treat their animals like family … and when they are mistreated … there is just no excuse for it,” stated Chaffins. “We think it’s important to take care of your animals, because that’s what they are put here on the Earth, for us to take care of.”

Rigdon is currently in the custody of the Grayson County Detention Center. An investigation continues.

May this hunk of maggot puke, Greg Rigdon get all the inhumane treatment the CO’s and inmates can dish out – he deserves the same mercy he gave these innocent dogs – NONE!

I agree with you 100% but un fortuantaly people in prison/ jail are more driven to harm child abusers, animals do not carry the same weight behind bars, and take it from someone who does know.

I hope they throw the book at this POS! Those poor dogs. Why did he have the dogs if this is the way he cared for them? How I wish he could be thrown in a cell and not fed as long as he didn’t feed these babies!

Lock this sick, demented, monster up and throw the key away….. I can not imagine the pain and fear an animal feels slowly dying of starvation….. you HAVE to be a monster to watch an animal deteriorate into a skeleton and do nothing! HANG this pervert!
