‘Just junkyard dogs’: Owner never bothered to leave their names

In Lancaster, California, a heartless owner arrived at the shelter on Thursday morning dragging a pair of seniors behind him he called “just junkyard dogs.” And to make the frightening ordeal even worse for the two pooches, the owner couldn’t even find it in his heart to leave the dogs’ names with the shelter. Tragically, the dogs were split up and then placed in separate kennels. Who can even imagine their sadness and confusion?

The ten-year-old  Labrador retriever mix and her eight-year-old brindle pit bull  cross have both been scheduled to be euthanized on Monday. The Labrador retriever can be released immediately if adopted; the pit bull mix will be required to pass a temperament evaluation before being released. Rescue volunteer, Sal Valdepena interacted with the dogs at the Lancaster Animal Care Center on Saturday morning:

“Surrendered as a “junkyard dog” completely terrified of the human hand, yet this beautiful girl loves human attention and affection. She warmed up quickly as I petted her; she wasn’t sure how to react. She was so happy running like a little old lady and getting sun on her beautiful frosted face. It breaks me inside knowing she’s euthanasia listed. I hope she felt love and happiness. I won’t give up until the last second. I love you Maggie, and I write this sitting on the floor of the shelter bawling my eyes out. You didn’t deserve the kind of life you had. I’ll keep fighting angel. I love you so much. Please share Maggie; she’s set for euthanasia without ever knowing love isn’t suppose to hurt.” Follow this dog’s plight here as her story is shared with approved rescue organizations, friends, family and social media.

And then there is her bonded brother. His life apparently had never been happy, and then he was dumped by his owner after years of abuse and neglect. Although he was also frightened when first touched, all he wanted was some kindness and an affectionate scratch or two behind his ears. Click here for his  senior adoption listing.  A5041572 “I don’t have a name yet and I’m an approximately 8 year old male pit bull.  I am already neutered.  I have been at the Lancaster Animal Care Center since March 16, 2017.  I am available on March 16, 2017.  You can visit me at my temporary home at L420.”

A composite Facebook page for both dogs can be followed here.

Antje Stobbe “They are both fixed, there is no reason they should have been separated! and NO info was gathered on either of these poor seniors; their chances of getting adopted is virtually zero!”

The dogs remain at Lancaster Animal Care Center located at 5210 W. Ave I in Lancaster, California. Phone: 661.940.4191.

  1. The way dogs can be trashed by an owner, thrown out of a moving car, emaciated, used as a bait dog, abused and tortured……..ALL I CAN SAY IS I WISH THEIR PARENTS, FAMILY AND FRIENDS DID THE SAME TO THEM WHEN THEY WERE A BABY AND A YOUNG CHILD SO THEY KNOW WHAT IT WOULD FEEL LIKE THESE SCUMBAG POS HUMANS. HOW ROTTEN CAN YOU BE TO TAKE THE DOGS TO A SHELTER AND DUMP THEM. I GUESS IT’S BETTER THAN THROWING THEM IN A FIELD LEFT TO DIE. THIS IS THE PART OF MY HEART I HAVE HATE FOR THESE HUMANS AND WANT THEM TO GET CANCER AND DIE.

  2. Those poor souls. Please someone adopt a pair of seniors. There’s nothing like the love of a senor. You will smile everyday please, save them.

  3. grrrrrrrrr, i am so enraged by the junkyard man. he didn’t even give their names?!!!! wtf is up with that??? i’m thinking he’s just junk/trash that needs to be dropped off for almost sure euthanasia .
shared—–> please lets get these guys out!!!

  4. The ATTITUDE of this CALIFORNIA POS Guppy Man Child! Has unfortunately been burned into my own mind as to HOW the MAJORITY of the population out there are LIKE this very BUZZARD EXCRETEMENT !!! What a Horrible, Vile, Worthless, EVIL< CRUEL < PUKE … I hope he gets mugged and murdered by his OWN KIND!!!

  5. Prayer’s for a couple of “junk yard dogs”. They deserve their last years to live in a loving family, I so hope this happens.

  6. I think this is disgusting not only are these 2 kids seniors but they don’t have names? It’s sickening how many seniors are getting turned over to animal shelters! It has become epidemic! The sad thing is that seniors as a rule don’t end up making it out of these shelters! Senior dogs are great. They are housebroken, they are calm! They will lay peacefully as you watch a favorite movie! Seniors are the casanovas of the doggie world!

  8. This a very sad !!!!! They MUST BE SAVED !!!! THEY NEED TO HAVE Ä LIFE IN KINDNES AN CAREFUL TOGETHER ???????????????????? PLEASE HELP THEM ❤❤❤❤ BIG HUGS FROM SWEDEN❤❤❤❤❤❤

  9. The scum bag probably never gave them a name. They are DISPOSABLE property after all. I’m so sad and upset that I have no words EXCEPT WHY ARE THEY ON A EUTHANASIA LIST ALL READY??? So wrong,so immoral!!!!

    • I also wondered why they were quick to put them on the euthanasia list. They suited the POS for a time and now he’ll probably start with newer dogs. Shared.

      • After they had a terrible life and owner surrender because he is a heartless scumbag they are on the list to die. Is there something wrong with these laws why animal abusers can’t get on the euthanasia list? Animals have a beating heart. So what makes humans better no matter what they have done. Killing an animal is murder just on the same level if a human kills another human.

  10. Another seniors thrown away! It’s an epidemy. Do these “owners” plan to remain young forever? Or think what they do to their senior pets will not be done to them by their offspring? But it will. Kids learn what they see.
Heartfelt prayers for these two betrayed dogs.
    PLEASE HELP THEM!
    SHARE!

  11. Their eyes tell the whole story of neglect fear and abuse
Heartbreaking to know they will be killed after finally getting away from their abuser
    Many tears:((((((
