It’s a rescue effort that animal lovers across the nation have been watching – the flooded shelter in Hankamer, Texas, which was inundated with water from a nearby dam. Welcome news was released on Tuesday evening, hours after the fate of nearly two dozen dogs seemed hopeless.
Within the past hour, Dallas DogRRR – Rescue.Rehab.Reform, the rescue group which partners with Tall Tails Animal Rescue, shared the breaking news:
OUR TRANSPORT TRAILER HAS HAS COMPLETED LOADING THE DOGS AND CATS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
ALL THE DOGS WERE SAVED FROM THE HOME. PRAISE THE LORD-THIS IS A MIRACLE!!!!!! KEVIN & THE SHERIFF GOT THEM ALL OUT!
Adding:
The dogs are on route To DALLAS Where we are staging where inventory and medical will be triaged. Rescue groups will have to come pick up their dogs in Dallas. We will provide the address when we can.
The current, urgent need for the animals is adequate, air-conditioned shelter. The rescue agency wrote:
The convoy is on its way and headed to the Dallas Fort Worth Area. We have seriously 3 Hours to find a indoor air conditioned facility to accommodate 90-100 dogs and cats for 48 hours!
—-THIS IS AN EMERGENCY—–
The specific plea for help (which can be shared):
We have volunteers on hold and waiting for us to send them a address so they may race over and start setting up for the arrival.
PLEASE!!!!
If you have a facility please call this number 214-629-6939
BUT only if you have a space open now and can accommodate this many dogs and cats.

Thank you thank you thank you. God bless my prayers and thoughts are with each and everyone that has been affected from this disaster
Thx for the update. Good job volunteers. The dogs on the fb picture looked terrified. Relieved that are safe. ????????????????????????
Good news, It brings hope to this old heart when I see that there are still good people willing to help in tragedies when we constantly see mostly bad things This shelter has gone above and beyond, for dogs and cats that were just shelter dogs and cats, when they could have just thrown up their hands and said there is nothing we can do, (so many pet owners just tied their dogs and left them to fend for themselves). Bless each and every one of them.
It is refreshing to know there are some people who will go to any length to save the animals. They need help just as much if not more than humans – they are helpless – THANKS to all who went the distance to help.
The first time the Sheriff came he took only a few dogs and refused to take anymore. They sat there in horrifying flooded condtions while the owners did everything they could to get them out! Thank God they are all finally safe..
