In Jacksonville, Florida, a man told authorities his dog shot his girlfriend. Brian Murphy, 25, told the Jacksonville Police Department officer investigating the shooting, that his dog Diesel was responsible for the shooting. So you’re shaking your head while reading this and saying to yourself, this can’t be possible and this man must be making this story up, but read on for the rest of the story and then decide.

According to Action News, police responded to a report of a shooting on Tuesday night in the 2200 block of Patou Drive at approximately 11:25 p.m. Murphy stated his dog woke him up to go outside. So out they went, and then Murphy stated he went back to bed and suddenly he saw a flash of light and heard the gun fire off. Murphy claims Diesel had jumped on the nightstand where the gun was sitting and hit it just right, shooting his girlfriend Summer Miracle in the right leg.

Summer says she doesn’t know what happened because she was sleeping. She was transferred to the hospital and treated with non life threatening injuries. Well, what do you think? A neighbor told the news that there is no way that could have happened. Was Diesel read his rights?

  1. What do I think, if this story is true than the moron shouldn’t have left his loaded gun on the night stand with the safety off. Hence it’s still his fault, I don’t care how smart a dog is they don’t know how to shoot a gun and aren’t mean enough to even want to.

  2. If the gun had the safety on, as it should have, I doubt Diesel could have caused the gun to fire. Too bad there’s not video to see exactly what happened.

  3. Why was the gun even on the nightstand? It shouldn’t have been there. Anyone who has been properly trained in the usage and safety of any firearms does not leave them lying around, loaded and ready to fire. You keep them in a safe place, like a locked drawer or cabinet, or even a proper firearms safe. The first safety rule that I was taught was that “You don’t have a loaded weapon in your possession, unless you are going to discharge it.” The second was that “You don’t leave it loaded when you have it at home.”

    • problem is IF someone is breaking into your home!!! how the hell are you going to get the combination, or key run to your safe get the weapon if loaded take off safety and then be able to shoot them before you and your loved ones have been shot…. that is putting your own life in risk… we keep ours damn close and we live in the country. I also never thought I would have taken a class to get a permit to carry a concealed weapon .. Well those days are over and I have a special purse that I take everywhere with me, movie, Walmart, Church!

      • You make a valid point but keep in in the nightstand drawer, you can at least keep the safety on. I do not own a gun so someone breaks into our house it will be me, my German Shepherd and baseball bat. You can probably color me and the German Shepherd gone (we live in the country too had someone knocking on our door at 3 in the morning one night, sure wished I was armed that night but they heard the dog and didn’t stick around luckily).

  4. First question why was a gun on the night stand? Second question why was there a loaded gun with the safety off on the night stand? Third question did Diesel grow opposable thumbs to click off the safety and the pull the trigger? Just asking!

    • Lol to your opposable(it is the correct spelling wonder why it tells me differently) thumbs comment. Kidding aside maybe they should look for fur fibers on the gun. If it is a made up story perhaps it will be used on a cop show.

  5. I wonder if there are ANY previous domestic disputes or charges against this man and woman. It seems more plausible that they had a fight; he shot her in the leg and asked for forgiveness and the two decided upon the above far”fetched” story to avoid any jail time for him.
