In Hollywood, Florida, police obtained a search warrant for a home on the 1900 block of Lee Street on Tuesday in connection with Ollie – the tortured dog found stuffed in a suitcase. According to Hollywood Police Department spokesperson, Miranda Grossman, no further details could be released.
For more than a month, police have taken an extra interest in this case because of the egregious nature of the cruelty and the amount of outrage the case has garnered across the country as well as internationally. Detectives have been focused on “every angle of this crime and arresting the individual who committed it,” Grossman told Wsvn7News.
The pit bull was discovered behind an abandoned building on October 10 along Lee Street. Kristen Bagarozza and her boyfriend spotted the dog’s paw sticking out of a blue hard textured suitcase. Ollie, the young pup had been left for dead. When discovered, he was rushed to the VCA Hollywood Animal Hospital. Tragically he died a few days later. Ollie had been stabbed 50 times, beaten and stuffed inside the suitcase. He had severe lacerations to the top of his head as well as his body and had been wearing a red collar.
One neighbor interviewed stated she heard a dog whimpering from the home the day Ollie was discovered in the suitcase. Neighbors say the dog belonged to the people who lived there, and remembered seeing Ollie as a puppy in the nearby alley. One woman thinks she knew the exact moment the dog was stabbed:
“I was outside, and I heard the dog, and it was constantly saying – ,” as neighbor Tanya Prince mimicked the dog’s crying. “I expected that it was maybe a dog in the yard with cats or something. A stray. Never thought the dog was being stabbed.”
Animal lovers are carefully following the story of Ollie, and his brutal torture continues to affect everyone involved – especially Tanya who was extremely upset when she saw Ollie’s photo on the news. No arrests have been made, but everyone hopes Ollie will find some justice.
