Miami-Dade Animal Services continue to investigate a video taken by a neighbor who is worried a dog could be in danger. According to News7, the exclusive video was turned over to Animal Services, and a neighbor, Odalys Fernandez, who lives behind the home, knows exactly what she witnessed. First she spotted a dog running on an apparently home made treadmill; the dog had his head down and appeared very tired.

“And then I saw a pig. There was a pig in there as well,” Odalys stated.

The pig had been in a separate cage in the backyard, and there was no way the dog would have been able to get to the animal, however it seemed as if the dog had been chasing the pig in the Southwest Miami-Dade backyard for a long period of time. In addition to the dog and the pig, there were four people in the backyard – including one young child. Several cages of dogs were also set along the perimeter of the yard.

Odalys is convinced the dogs were being trained to fight; why else would any dog be trained on a treadmill with another animal in front of it being chased.

“I like dogs and I like people and what they did to those dogs. I don’t like it. And when I saw that one dog with all the mosquitoes on top of the bite that he had…”

And then over a month ago, one morning the fence to the backyard was down and all of the dogs, their cages, the equipment and the pig were gone. Although Miami-Dade Animal Services has the video and the facts about the possible dog fighting training operation, nothing has been done – or at least the investigators aren’t commenting.

What a tragedy this could be for nine dogs and a pig.

  1. Just another instance of our fantastic justice system, they want people to speak up so they can prosecute but then either the police or the judges do nothing. When they say, if you see something, say something, that means nothing anymore.

  2. Make sure if you live in that area to keep the heat on this case! Any Animal on the property of these IDIOTS need to be checked on & Removed!

  3. Just hope the police were investigating these scums and that’s why all the stuff along with the dogs and pig are gone, but also that the police know where they moved and will catch them actually using the dogs and pig for fighting. The more evidence they have, the bigger the conviction. Hope that is the case here.

  4. If the police do not try to find and arrest these people they need to be fired immediately! This is animal cruelty and child endangerment! Maybe someone should open an investigation into municipal corruption!

  5. Authorities higher up if the local police do nothing please—–. Clear up to the governor if you can. This pit ring is so cruel and so illegal, Cops must act or tell us and we will climb all over their ars.

  6. Once again Miami-Dade proves its lack of humanity by ignoring this poor dog’s plight – they can claim ‘investigating’ all they want, but the past has proven they do nothing when it comes to animal abuse. These subhuman trash maggots who treated this poor dog so badly need to be sitting in a jail cell – yet I bet nothing will happen because Miami-Dade does not care.

  7. Miami-Dade has surely dropped the ball on this one. They need to get these dogs help and they need to be found NOW! Someone has to know who the people are that lived in that house. Be their voice.
