Injured dog, hit by car, waits at shelter

Update: Rescued by Guardian Angel Pet Rescue!

An injured dog, who was hit by a car, has been waiting to be rescued since he was brought to the San Bernardino City Animal Shelter back in early January. On January 14, the Save SBC Shelter Pups Facebook page wrote about the injured dog, whose name is Kobe:

Kobe is a beautiful, very sore, male Retriever/Pit mix, recently hit by car. Kobe has grease and cuts and bad limp on back left leg. Confirmed with staff Kobe had seen vet and had X-rays, manager said Kobe can’t leave early.

Imagine being hit by a car and then sent to a lonely, unfamiliar and not particularly comfortable animal control agency kennel. Imagine no comfort from people you love – no soft bed – no extra tender loving care. That sad picture has been Kobe’s reality for nearly two months.

With each day that passes, Kobe’s chances of making it out alive decrease – he has long since passed the safe “stray hold” period. Please share Kobe’s information and help him find someone to take him in.

Identification number: A500743

  1. Please save this boy, even in pain he’s sweet. Help this beautiful broken soul,. If someone could get him to me on Long Island,NY my home is open .

  2. Pauvre bébé, il lui faut une famille aimante rapidement, ce loulou a beaucoup d’amour à partager. SVP

  3. He is a nice looking dog and appears to be otherwise healthy weight .. This is SO SAD that a rescue hasn’t made the effort to STEP forward TO ASSIST this young gentle dog to find a family and home that will cherish him… San Bernardino I believe is somewhat like Carson , and Baldwin facilities… California is apparently overwhelmed and under prepared to have compassion for the forsaken Animal’s the “human population ” Simply DUMP AND WALK AWAY FROM”!!!!

  4. Poor pup starts to wag his tail when he thinks someone is there to give him some kind of attention, then suddenly realizes, whoever is there isn’t there for him and instantly his tail goes dormant again. This is sad, he’s been there for 2 months, being ignored, no vet care, pain medicine, attention of any kind, he has pee all over his kennel, I guess he should be considered lucky to have a kurunda bed, huh! He’s such a great looking dog, mild mannered, well maintained, calm, sweet, affectionate, loving, friendly, young, he’s got alot going for him, alot against him to, he needs a rescue to step up, he wouldn’t be to hard to place into a forever home, I’d love to have him and I live in NC, I’m sure a home would come up closer to San Bernardino. Poor fellow, I hate seeing him this way , where are all the fosters, come on Cali, step up, save this dog. Hes a definite keeper, look at him, hes gorgeous.

  5. Kobe made it thru from being hit by a car! Now he needs a loving person to step up and adopt this good boy! He has been waiting since January for someone to let him know he’s worth it! Please don’t let this little man who made it thru so much end up dying! He deserves a chance at happiness and love!

  6. This poor baby has lots of love to give.. I see there are 2 people that are willing to give him a home and lots of love. Plrsse someone help him go home

  7. Kobe has suffered long enough – he needs and deserves a safe loving home – there MUST be a kindhearted person in San Bernadino who would be perfect – Kobe is beautiful and would be a perfect companion. PLEASE save him.
