At the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office Animal Farm, more than 100 animals including the infamous and all too adorable Mo the sloth have been moved into holding cells after 426 inmates were evacuated from the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office jail. Cool critters ranging from llamas, skunks, horses, birds and prairie dogs have now taken up residence. 
According to the organization’s Facebook page, many of the animals have been at the Animal Farm for years and brought in for a variety of reason from having been abandoned, unable to be cared for by their previous owners, neglected or abused. The most popular resident, however has been Mo the sloth.
“Here’s a little break from the madness. Many have asked about our most famous resident, Mo the sloth. Mo is taking it easy and enjoying this beautiful day – the calm before the storm. He has an ear of corn from his friend Ralph De Palma, and life is good. We are currently in the final stages of hurricane prep, and I will keep you all posted on our progress. Today we are moving supplies and feed into the jail, and tomorrow, the animals will be moved. Thanks for all the prayers and support.”
Most of the animals were moved on Saturday from the farm located outside of the jail.

OMG! I hope and pray they will somehow manage to survive the largest most dangerous hurricane on record! I have my doubts tho. The worry and heartbreak I’ve been feeling and thinking for the many,many,many animals ever since Irma has appeared is fraying my nerves. PLEASE GOD ????????GIVE MERCY TO ALL THE ANIMALS,ESPECIALLY THE ONES WHO HAVE NOBODY TO PROTECT THEM FROM HARM????????

Whatever can be done to save/rescue these animals of all kinds is being done and I am truly amazed at the compassion of some people and facilities. Sending animals to other shelters to care for them until the hurricane is done and damage assessed is something these places never would have done. More awareness of displaced animals during times like this is coming to the attention of those who can help.
