Hospice home needed for senior dog

A hospice foster home is being sought for a handsome senior dog named “Sebastian.” Two years ago, someone abandoned the German shepherd outside of an animal shelter in California – Sebastian, being the devoted dog that he was, stayed where he was left, waiting for his family to come back to take him home.

Sadly, nobody returned to take Sebastian home. On Wednesday, Maria Dales, director of the German Shepherd Rescue of Orange County, explained what happened next:

Shelter employees realized that he had been dumped and took him inside. GSROC has had Sebastian for nearly 2 years and he is in need of a retirement home.

She added:

He is a lovely, affectionate gentleman, stiff in the hips and in need of daily medication, but friendly and appreciative of every small kindness. Sebastian probably will not be with us for more than another year, so we really want him to retire in a loving home. As a hospice care case, Sebastian’s medical bills and food will be paid for by GSROC—foster family simply provides the love, comfort and companionship that are vital to his well being.

Sebastian was betrayed by his family, but he deserves to be loved and spoiled for what remains of his life. Do you know someone wonderful who can give Sebastian safe harbor for whatever time he has left? They will have no expenses—just the profound pleasure of his company! Note: Located in Orange County, California and a home with no other dogs is required.

  1. i hope and pray that you will find him somewhere to live to be loved and taken care of until his last breath

  2. Oh Sebastian, if I weren’t clear across the country and already had 4 dog, I would take you in a heartbeat. I’m so sorry someone abandoned you like this. The loyalty of a German Shepherd is second to none and you deserved so much better. Hopefully, someone will step up and help.

  3. I hope someone will give this dog a wonderful home and let him live his remaining golden years with comfort and much love.

  4. Sebastian was literally abandoned by his so called ‘family’ and desperately needs the safe loving home he never had – senior dogs are excellent companions – and he will give unconditional love to the lucky person he gets him. PLEASE STEP UP FOR SEBASTIAN – he is a victim not a criminal and deserves to be adopted into a safe loving home.

  5. I wish I wasn’t on the opposite coast, he is such a beautiful boy. I cant understand why or how someone could do this to him when he needs his people the most.
