Update 4/26/17: Rescue pending (rescue hold in place)

A video of a heartbroken senior dog, silently shaking on her lonely kennel run bed, shows the devastating emotional toll which “shelter life” has on a dog.

The eight-year-old Dogue de Bordeaux, named “Darla,” arrived at the Carson Animal Services facility in California on April 23 – days have passed and Darla continues to sit in her lonely kennel run waiting for whatever her fate may be.

Please help this sensitive soul find her way to safe and loving home by taking a moment to network her adoption information. Petharbor link for Darla here.

Note: All inquiries about this dog must be made directly to the shelter facility, including questions about availability and temperament.

    • Good to know there is a rescue in place, hopefully she will be out of there and on her way to a foster or new home soon!

      • Someone had mentioned in her posting that Darla had died. They said she died from cancer and other medical problems. I requested from the person who posted her to begin with to verify that info. There was no mentioning of her having cance or any other medical problems. They said the shelter would not release her to the rescue until her stray hold was up. This is bull, he rescue should of been allowed to pull after three days. Not sure if or when she died. If this is true then this was a silent kill. I just do not understand. She had a rescue, pledges and a foster I think, so why did they not release her?

  1. Please someone help this poor sweet baby. I have 4 rescues of my own so no room at the inn. Please help save this poor sweet baby????

  2. I’m sending my Angel Bella Lou to comfort you. And asking the Lord to calm you. Lil one it’s ok, rest for now, please lord let his match find him soon…

  3. This is Horrible!!!! I hope the idiot that left her there goes straight to Jail so they can feel what it is like to be left behind bars.
    PLEASE HELP HER!!!

  4. I am in tears. I hate what some owners do to their pets. It’s heartless and cruel. Please someone save Darla and give her a good loving home. Shared.

  5. OMG this is so heart breakingJow could anyone do such a thing to her. There has to be someone out there wiho will save her. Please do not let this place kill her. We need to get her out now.

  6. I can’t watch another video, just reading their stories starts the tears. I have been in quite a few tough situations with my animals. I could not find any reason to dump them or just set them free just the thought of it is enough for me to get a second job now before i need one.
Please save her . .she didn’t ask to be in a kennel with the smell of death surrounding her…none of them did. Greedy backyard breeders should be living on death row.

  7. This breaks my heart. I wish I could take Darla home so she can live out her golden years with my senior babies. My prayers are with you, Darla. Please don’t let her die!!

  8. I would love to bring her home. She needs a quiet place to rest. I would put her in bed and wrap my arms around her and softly sing her to sleep. Seeing this hurts my heart.

  9. One thing I can say is when the owner gets damn old I hope their children or family dumps their ass in a nursery hold that abuses them or dump them in a field to rot.

  10. I am going to write to Frosted Faces and ask if they can help this treasure.

I would love to adopt her but I live in Northern California and can’t come to the shelter in person…… she is very much welcome in my home if she can travel up North……. I hope she can find a new furever home……

  12. AAWWHHH WHY DON’T PEOPLE THAT SURRENDER THEIR DOGS HAVE ANY GUILT ABOUT WHAT THEY DO…..HOW CAN THEY LIVE WITH THEMSELVES….I FUCKING HATE THOSE HEARTLESS BASTARDS….HOPE AND PRAY THEY ALL DIE

  13. Darla deserves MUCH better than to be sitting in a high kill shelter waiting to die. This is a beautiful dog who will love you unconditionally – PLEASE get her out of this hell hole.

  14. Oh my GOD!!! Why in the HELL would someone seal the fate of a senior animal that obviously been in a home situation for many years to that??? “Invite” those people to spend a couple of days in those surroundings and see how they like it…still not good enough for them, because they know why they’re there, these animals have NO clue why they’re there!!!

    • Located her on FB and shared. Please update, situation, or confirm rescue. Freedom photo would be very welcome. She’s a precious pet, Life Form.

  15. After looking at the Video of this Beautiful Fur Baby makes me sick that why anyone would turn this Dog into a Kill Shelter is beyond me. I Hope Karma Gets to you, You Scum.

  16. Poor baby I love you more with age they will be dropped off at a shelter like a nursing home when they get old and they shall reap what they sow !!!

  17. Sharing praying to find a family for Darla or a rescue can’t believe there’s no one that can help where’s all the rescues

  18. Yeah there, If there was a way to get this dog transported out a CA or to another region of CA the chaces of adoption would go up. Stop postin “please adopt” or that I can’t help volunteer to be part of a transport chain to allow rescue groups to step in and help. If you can transport 50 miles to meet another, or help a group get her out to move her on step up. May mean you may have to foster to move this dog to a forever home.

  19. Im in ny long island i would take this dog. Beautiful dog!!! I think when someone wants to come along way to fly and picl up this pup that the shelter doesnt charge u any fees so that u can fly this pup home

  20. That is very sad to watch to see that dog shaking in fear I am so heartbroken please someone take that dog and give her a good home I have to rescue pit bulls and they are the best dogs ever they just need love lots of love I beg you in the name of Jesus please take this dog home with you somebody please Jesus please god some One save this dog amen

  21. Please. What is the latest update on Darla. Has that Rescue removed her from the shelter. Has she had visitors to attempt to comfort her.

    • I had read on one of her threads that she had died. Someone stated she had died in her sleep, stating she had cancer and other medical problems that contributed to her death. I have sent messages out requesting an up date but nothing as of yet. I even sent one to the shelter. If this dog is dead, it is because they killed it. There was no mentioning in any of her write-ups that she had cancer or was sick.
