This week, good Samaritans found a badly beaten dog abandoned by a Philadelphia dumpster. The Philadelphia Animal Hospital, which has been treating the injured dog, advised Facebook followers about the animal cruelty case on Wednesday.

The Animal Hospital wrote:

The following photo is hard to look at but is very important.

This is a severe dog abuse case we are currently treating at Philadelphia Animal Hospital. Two wonderful people brought this dog to us when they found him tied to a dumpster and badly beaten, and we are taking every measure to ensure he gets well.

The dog has been named “Charlie,” and he is described as a “very sweet dog.” Right now, Charlie is in stable condition and the veterinary hospital has advised potential donors that no aid on Charlie’s behalf is being accepted. The hospital stated, “We will not be directly accepting donations for his care, as we are covering all medical expenses for him as a hospital.”

Adding:

“anyone interested in making donations can provide them to the City of Elderly Love: Save a Senior Pet, who not only provide care and foster homes to older pets but will also be arranging the post-care accommodations for Charlie.”

The Animal Hospital commented on animal cruelty in general:

It’s a terrible tragedy when innocent animals are treated in such a way, and we recognize that this is not an isolated incident. Your support as a community, for organizations just like The City of Elderly Love, is what helps Philadelphia take steps in getting animals all the care they need.

  1. Philidelphia Animal Hospital. You are amazing for helping innocent Charlie. You , Charlie, The City of Elderly Love and the rescuers that found Charlie will be rewarded in other ways. You are so kind and loving. Not to be forgotten. Charlie found love in your arms. The most cherished gift of all.

  2. What type of monsters are in this country? We have gotten worse as a nation and continue to abuse, torture and abandon animals to die. This dog was found luckily and will have a good life but not so with others like him. We have to be so aware of everything around us and report any and all cruelty we see. Jail time for thugs who do this to animals.

    • I blame the judges and authorities for taking animal abuse so lightly – you see it over and over – the abusers get a slap on the wrist and keep right on going. Animal abuse should be treated like child abuse – it is cruelty to those who are defenseless, innocent and have no voice – dogfighters should be sitting on death row, not sitting in jail for 1-2 years.

  3. Will someone please tell me what the hell is wrong with people !!! Beating an innocent dog, I can only wish death to animal abusers. I have absolutely no use for abusers. I hope Charlie will be okay !!!

  4. WOW!!! This Philadelphia Animal Hospital is ONE IN A MILLION!!!! There are Actually Some Good Good People left in that city!!! Charlie is a lucky dog… I hope he gets adopted to wonderful people so he can live a good life as he should!!

  5. I watched the American Humane Association’s Hero dog awards show last night, and on there was a piece about how Pennsylvania had passed laws to protect animals that are abused, and the very next day I see this. I hope they find who did this and I hope the “new” Pennsylvania law is enforced, but I won’t hold my breath.

  6. Philadelphia Animal Hospital you are to be commended for treating Charlie! Thank you so much and Charlie, be strong you will have a great life!

  7. Somewhere in this world there has to be justice for these vile abusers!! This poor Charlie did nothing in this world to deserve this and i pray for his recovery…..Thank you to Philadelphia Animal Hospital. A place where there are angel vets…..and whoever did this i cannot wait till you meet the devil in a burning hell!
