At just four years of age, a dog named Bella passed away after a reported battle with cancer and kidney failure. The young dog belonged to Portland Trail Blazer, Meyers Leonard, who Tweeted about the devastating loss just one day after Christmas.

Leonard’s Tweet reads:

Our baby Bella is gone to a better place now. 2/18/13 – 12/25/17. I’m not sure words could ever describe how much you meant to us. You were truly an amazing dog that brought us nothing but pure joy and happiness. We will love you forever Bella. RIP baby girl. ❤️

Just two weeks earlier, Leonard Tweeted a photo of the young dog as she checked off bucket list items before the inevitable happened:

News of Bella’s passing has brought a deluge of messages from fans as well as from Leonard’s team, the Trail Blazers.

The team’s center acknowledged the well wishes in a subsequent Tweet:

To everyone who has reached out to Elle and I – Thank you so much for your kind words and prayers. Bella was truly an amazing dog that we will always remember. We were so lucky to have her in our lives. Thanks again everyone, it really means a lot.

Rest in peace Bella.

To get recent postings in your Facebook feed, you must also hover your mouse over the word “following” and then click “see first” from the drop-down menu. You may want to check back with your favorite pages on occasion because Facebook often changes your settings, no longer having your favorites among those to “see first.”

  1. what a shame to loose a beloved pet so young. Bella was very lucky to be loved as she was. It is what we wish for all dogs. I hope they will open their hearts to another dog in need as soon as they are ready.

  2. My condolences to Meyers Leonard and his family for their loss of their beautiful Bella, to lose her at such a young age is heartbreaking.
