Sammy is an adorable four-month-old German shepherd puppy with a serious problem. On Sunday, he was found in an Atlanta, Georgia grocery store parking lot barely able to move. Apparently Sammy had been hit by a car; one leg is literally crushed and the other is broken in multiple areas.
The local shelter immediately reached out to Rescue Dogs Rock NYC for help, and Sammy has since been rushed to a partner Georgia emergency veterinarian hospital where he has been administered intravenous fluids and pain medication.
“Sammy’s medical team is scrambling to stabilize him while our orthopedic surgeon hopes to save at least one of his back legs,” Jackie O’Sullivan, the rescue organization’s co-founder stated on the group’s Facebook page.
It is unknown if Sammy accidentally escaped from his family’s yard, however the puppy is both emaciated and dehydrated indicating he had been scrounging around trying desperately to survive. And what does a four-month-old puppy know about living on the streets?
“We are heartbroken for Sammy, but as always, we will do our best for him,” added Jackie.
Sammy is heading via private transport on Monday to an orthopedic surgeon specializing in difficult cases. To help with Sammy’s medical expenses, donations can be made by clicking here or PayPal: Donate@rescuedogsrocknyc.org or mail: RDR NYC PO BOX 101 NY, NY 10028.
