Described as shelter volunteers doing a “happy dance” at Camp Cocker Rescue, after George and Amal Clooney donated $10,000 to help  the California rescue organization care for nine severely neglected dogs recently rescued from a backyard breeder, the celebrity couple continue to prove the huge hearts they have when it comes to our four-legged best friends.

According to the organization’s Facebook page, the announcement came with a bit of mystery at first concerning the generous donors:

“Well, you can imagine how blown away we were when we heard that a $10,000 donation was pledged to our doggies. Our generous donors would like to see their donation doubled by all of you, so for the month of May, every dollar you donate will be matched (up until we reach $10,000).”

And the post continued with the drum roll and identification of the Clooneys’ generosity:

“After we all did happy dances and cried with happiness for this unbelievable matching donation offer – we then asked the donors if (and only if they gave us their permission) …if we could reveal their names to our supporters in order to help us reach our big goal this month. They were so very gracious to give us permission to reveal their names.  We want to thank  George and Amal Clooney for their unbelievable donation and now it’s time to turn to all of YOU to see if you can match it!!!”

The video below is quite self explanatory of the life these dogs endured. Bred over and over again with minimal care; their owners had only been concerned with profits. Sadly that is the plight of the innocent victims of puppy mills and backyard breeders. Forced to live outdoors in the filth, the puppies had never had human interaction, veterinarian care or love. And now their lives have changed.

  1. This is awesome news! Celebrities get their best publicity when doing something good for animals. I wish more would donate to rescue groups! I hope these puppies get the care and love they need.

  2. HUGE Thank you to George and Amal Clooney for their compassion and generosity – these dogs are safe now because you cared. ALL puppy mills should be outlawed in this country – and backyard breeders prosecuted for felony animal cruelty. As far as I am concerned ALL breeders are nothing more than puppy mills, they only use a fancier name. Too many animals die in shelters because of all of these people whose only concern is profit.

    • I agree with you 110%!!! How I wish there were stricter laws on breeders and even a limit as to how many breeders a state can have. Most shelters are always full or over flowing with animals – we do not need to keep breeding animals like we do. Unfortunately I live in the state where it has the highest amount of puppy mills and it really makes me mad that there are so many as eventually the breeding animal is put in a shelter when they have been breeding for years and years. A lifetime spent in a cage.

  3. I wish all people with extra $$$$ would do likewise so much abuse in our world today that’s so unacceptable! Thank you for your kindness George and Amal

  4. I HOPE someone in law enforcement is going to keep an eye on these poor dogs,”owners” to keep them from moving somewhere else, and getting more dogs to start selling again….

  5. This is awesome!!! How i wish every celebrity would be so kind and do such an act to help shelters and animals in need as so many shelters are full and over flowing with limited funds. Not long ago someone in my state (Missouri) broke into a shelter and stole 250 pounds of dog food!!! Pretty pathetic. So a giant THANK YOU to George and Amal!!!!

  6. Just remember Backyard breeders Only means horses. The Term Backyard has Nothing to do with Dogs or any small animals. The Term is Puppy Mill. All Advocates using the Term incorrectly are doing so without any proper authoriization. The term was Designated by the Horse Industry only to Reference any Horse Equine Breeder that owns less than 100 acres. This can be Professionals or not. The term was Never negative. The term has been modified and used without permission by Advocates and rescuers and turned into a back word. THE term Puppy Mill is the proper term for dogs. No small animal is encompassed in Backyard breeding. Rabbits, dogs, cats and any other creature is Not backyard bred just because they live in a back yard. The term in horses means that horse people who breed on small farms may breed superior quality but the horses are NOT from a Ranch which over the 100 acres mark is designated as Ranch bred horses for show stock definitions in Rodeo horses. Thank you for your time. George and Amal are amazing!

  7. I am so happy about this, however, can they encourage their friends to help all the animals by building no kill shelters and putting money
out there for everyone to have their pets fixed?

  8. How wonderful of THE CLOONEY”S to help these animals out…. IF 1/2 of the Movie Star Status people in the STATE of CALIFORNIA would STEP up TO THE PLATE THEY REALLY COULD MAKE A HUGE DIFFERENCE in the MASS SESTRUCTION OF RELIQUINSHED DOGS to the DOWNEY< BALDWIN< CARSON>>
