In Gainesville, Florida the owner of two dogs, has been accused by authorities of two counts of aggravated animal cruelty after the starving animals were found living in trash and feces in the woman’s apartment located at 39th Avenue.
According to the Gainesville Sun, Kya Benjamin, 21, abandoned a male bulldog named Hiro, and a female mixed breed named Famous, in her apartment with no food or water for weeks. Police reported both dogs suffered from injuries and when found were bleeding. Benjamin admitted she had not checked on her dogs and knew they were both sick.
The Gainesville Police notified the Alachua County Animal Services who reported the condition of the dogs has been listed as life threatening; one of the dogs will likely have to be euthanized.
Benjamin had been trying to sell the dogs on Craigslist.

She is currently being held in the Alachua County Jail.
