Cop busted after dead and starving horses found

Former cop busted for cruelty when dead and starving horses are found

A former cop, with the New York Police Department, has been busted for animal cruelty after investigators found dead and starving horses on her farm in Goshen, New York. According to the Hudson Valley SPCA, their humane law enforcement team responded to the  Argus Farm after receiving a report about suspected animal cruelty.

The team’s findings at the farm were shocking – in four of the barn’s 18 stalls, decomposed bodies of horses were found. It is believed that the horses had starved to death. In one of the stalls, the body of an eight-week-old foal was discovered collapsed beside it’s mother in a nursing position.

One stall held a still alive, albeit emaciated, stallion who was standing over the remains of another deceased horse. According to the animal welfare agency, there was no grain, hay or water on site – the skeletal stallion had been attempting to eat the wood in his stall in a futile attempt to stay alive.

The person suspected of creating this cruel situation is identified as the farm’s owner, 48-year-old Jeanne Ryan, a former New York City police officer, reported NBC New York.

Ryan is facing animal cruelty charges – she has denied the allegations against her, but could face up to a year behind bars if she is found guilty.

We see every day that police and former police are NOT immune to animal abuse. Every day they are leaving their k K-9’s in hot cars, shooting innocent pets, and now starving horses. They have found dead and starving animals on your property Jeanne Ryan, how can this NOT be your fault you POS!

Agreed. Seems to be a massive amount of evidence against her and yet, she is trying to deny charges and pleads not guilty. So along with all the other corrupt things they sometimes do, I see they lack integrity as well, because she is quite obviously a pathetic LIAR too!

IF she is found guilty?? It is her property and the animals are proof of the neglect. Should be one year for EVERY dead animal and one year for every live neglected animal. People won’t care unless they are MADE to care.

Disgusting ex police officer. The facility is hers yet she did not allow this to happen? Who was taking care of these horses for her? They took care of themselves and she is ultimately not responsible? Horrible woman and she should be in jail for murder, plain and simple. If she was taking care of children, what would her punishment be? Jail time and forced to pay for the treatment of remaining horses.

Where were the neighbors? Are the neighbors blind? Why did this go on for long enough that horses and even a foal suffered so? How about her friends? Why didn’t this get reported ages ago by someone? Was it because she had been a cop and had good ol’ boy friends family and neighbors protecting her? What horses were saved? It is not mentioned how many could be helped. Keep us posted please.

I agree with the other comments, she could face up to a year if convicted. Up to a year for neglecting and failing to care for four horses and a foal until they die of starvation, and the punishment is up to a year. I am incredulous, this is so inadequate.

IF SHE IS FOUND GUILTY?????? How can she NOT be guilty? This piss poor example of human being – being a cop is hardly a proclamation of being humane – we have seen arrogant cruel cops many times, dead K9 dogs left in cars, shooting non threatening dogs because they can – this bitch needs A LOT more than ONE YEAR – this is deliberate FELONY animal cruelty and being an x-cop she would have a great time in prison which suits me fine. Let HER become a victim.

IF ……. IF…….IF SHE IS GUILTY????? AND COULD FACE 1 LOUSY, STINKING YEAR BEHIND BARS? ONE YEAR? She TORTURED, abused and murdered….albeit a very slow murder, but murdered horses!
Please tell me she will be locked away longer than one year. If so, then fine her $100,000 and give her a life time ban on ever OWNING or living in the same residence as any animal!
This is a monster….she is NOT human to be able to watch animals slowly starve to death. What is even more scary, she is a POLICE OFFICER!??!?!?!?!!?

What a total POS!! I smell a slap on the wrist coming! She could face UP TO A YEAR in jail? What an appalling and disgusting sentence for the immense torture and killing of so many horses! Horses are such magestic and beautiful companion animals and this is all their suffering and death is worth? Why am I not surprised! Oh how I wish one of these horses had the strength and the opportunity to give this POS a well planted hoof right square in the face causing IMMEDIATE death! This world would then be a better place with one less brutal, cruel, inhumane animal abuser in it! And to think this vile maggot was out there in the community pretending to be an upstanding person that was sworn to serve and protect! How laughable! Such a sad and tragic case! Its TRUELY SICKENING!!!!!!!
