In South Townsville, Australia a $2,000 reward has been offered for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person(s) responsible for the violent beating and drowning of a family’s beloved miniature dachshund during a robbery in their home in Hermit Park.
According to the Townsville Bulletin, Scott McWilliams and Vernon McIlroy had been in Sydney for the weekend; a house sitter had been in charge of caring for their pets. When the sitter arrived on Sunday and went into the backyard, she found one of the family’s dog, Paris, had been beaten and drowned in the pond. The dog’s claw marks showed she had struggled for her life while being held under the water. Their other dog Astrid was found unharmed, but shaking in fear.
Paris most likely barked, which would have motivated the thieves to take violent action so as not to arouse suspicion with neighbors. Senior Sergeant Graeme Patterson stated that detectives thought the robber jumped over the back fence and tried to break into the house.
Mr. McWilliams and Mr. McIlroy have decided to move and leave their terrible memories of what happened to Paris behind. This was the fourth time the men have been affected by crime since they arrived in 2014. A portrait of Paris will be painted by Brisbane artist Stephen Gallagher, as a way of remembering and hopefully to help with the healing process of such a heinous crime.
“We moved to Townsville to settle and find a place that we could really call home, but it doesn’t feel like home when you’re not safe in your house,” they said as reported in the Daily Mail.
Local resident Robin Kitchin has offered the $2,000 reward labeling the intruders as “gutless cowards.” Kitchin feels the pain the couple are feeling and hates animal cruelty, stating this would be an opportunity for the justice system to dole out the strictest punishment and maximum penalty.

Having numerous dachshunds of all sizes, ages, and temperament’s , I imagine Paris was the one who was the alpha and would bark to alert of an anomaly… This so very sad… and my heart goes out to the owners and the companion of Paris…. I hope the amount of the reward will bring forth and ” mole in the hole” who will RAT out the perpetrator’s of this Murder of an innocent and loving little dog that was trying to do it’s duty!!! I am Sick at heart this morning to read this!!!
Maggot scumbags who did this. I hope they are found, beaten, salt rubbed in the wounds til they scream, then slowly killed in a likewise manner. I’m fed up with savages like this who continue to walk among human beings. My heart goes out to the family.

What depraved things to torture and strangle these tiny dog. Pray they find the things that did this and torture and kill them when they go to jail.Lazy slugs that they have to resort to robbery instead of being a normal person and work every day.
