There has been an unbelievable twist in the sage of Zeus, a pit bull who once faced exile because of a Louisiana city’s proposed “vicious dog ordinance.” In 2014, when the city of Moreauville tried to enact an ordinance which would have banned Zeus from remaining with his family, the eyes of the nation were watching as Zeus’ owners publicly fought to keep their “beloved dog” with them – the Armand family even claimed that Zeus acted as a therapy dog to their 19-year-old daughter, O’Hara, who suffered from health issues.

According to Tuesday’s KALB News, the family who petitioned to keep Zeus with them has now abandoned their dog. The news agency reported that neighbors of the Armand family contacted the police after seeing the family move away, leaving their pets behind.

Chief Scott Lemoine with the Moreauville Police Department stated, “It was confirmed about the call we received that they were abandoned. They were given food and water at the time to help them survive.” The Armand family walked away from seven dogs, including Zeus, and two cats. Now the local police are trying to find somewhere for the abandoned pets to go, and neighbors are bringing the animals food and water.

Anyone who is interested in adopting one of these abandoned animals is asked to call the authorities at  318-985-2126.

  1. It’s odd the family who fought so hard to keep Zeus just moved and abandoned their dogs and cats. Did the authorities tried to contact the family? Unbelievable, I’m totally lost for words! I hope Zeus and the other dogs and cats find homes and not dwindle away sitting in a shelter.

  2. Something is missing from this story and should know why the family just took off and left their pets.Too many unanswered questions for a family that supposedly loved Zeus.

  3. I will never understand why people WANT pets…but do not really love them or make them family….it makes absolutely NO sense at all. If THEY ARE NOT GOING TO BE FAMILY…….. leave them the hell alone!

  4. This so called ‘family’ is known to authorities and need to be held responsible for their cruel treatment of Zeus and the other animals they just walked out on – for all the uproar they caused in their attempts to get Zeus back they sure proved to be one lousy example of caring owners. Chief Scott Lemoine of Moreauville LA needs to make a consorted effort to find these people and charge them with abandonment.

  5. What the heck is going on with these family, something is missing or something is,very wrong. I feel for these special animals, especially Zeus. I ask our dear Lord to please help these babies find a new home. Hang in there Zeus, someone will love you and give you a good loving and caring home.

  6. HORRIBLE!!!!! How could they abandon those babies especially after all they had done to keep him!!!! I hope they rot in HELL!!!
