Dogs left behind when owners moved
Spread the love

Update: Per volunteer-run website for this facility:

Adoption hold together and they are waiting for surgery and will be ready to pick up in a few days. They also have a backup rescue hold.

Two dogs have only one another at an animal shelter in Harris County, Texas. The dogs, Negra and Moneca, were turned over to the Harris County Public Health facility when their owners – the people who were supposed to love and protect them, moved and made the decision to not take the dogs with them.

Now the bonded friends are sitting in terror inside of a lonely kennel run – both are clearly terrified and confused over what has happened. Worse still, the dogs are in danger of losing their life – even though they have done absolutely nothing to deserve death.

The volunteer-run Facebook page which operates to help save homeless pets at the facility wrote of the dogs’ dire predicament:

These two sisters were left at the shelter by their owners because they were moving. Their review date was when the shelter closed today, Thursday March 30th, but the shelter gave them another day to find a home even though they are PACKED FULL!

If Moneca and Negra do not find a forever home, or a foster home, by the time the shelter closes tomorrow, Friday the 31st at 6pm, they will be euthanized without another extension. Please don’t let them down like their owners did. They don’t deserve this.

Please help these dogs find a new home – a home where they will never be turned away again.

  1. Bloody shocking leaving these poor dogs behind just makes you wonder what sort of people would do that the dogs look so scared makes my blood boil thinking its except able to abandon them.

  2. Yes, why couldn’t they take them with them? Why would they move somewhere they couldn’t go? I’m sure the owners knew what could happen to them and they didn’t care. Sharing and praying with all my might these poor dogs get out!

  8. That’s great news……I was crying reading about them. It’s sad what they did to them. The owner move didn’t bother to take them at all. They could find someone who wants the dogs. But God bless them. God knowns what they did to them. These dogs were scared. Family moved and bonded them and they didn’t care if the dogs live or die. GOD BLESS THESE DOGS FOR A NEW FAMILY……..Great news!

    • Just ignore the fact that the page posting these issues is run by volunteers and is the first ever of its kind in Houston. Focus on the negative. That’ll help.

      • Totally agree! It’s an unfair nightmare for dogs EVERYWHERE,some places are worse than others but I say THANK YOU to all volunteers everywhere who have these sites and try their best to save whatever dogs they can! I volunteer in a shelter also and we too have a site to push adoptions. I will say there is NO WAY I would ever work in a place that kills dogs for being homeless,so I admire the volunteers who do work(for free)in these horrible shelters that kill to try and save lives! God bless them!
