A stunning white carriage horse, tasked with pulling a bride and groom up a hill in intense heat, collapsed on the street in Borgetto, Italy. According to the Daily Mail, the overburdened stallion fell just outside of a church on a day which was said to be quite warm.

The video, taken by someone from a neighboring flat, shows members of the wedding party, as well as the carriage driver, attempting to unhook the exhausted horse from the carriage and offering comfort as he laid on the ground.

The ultimate fate of the stricken horse is unknown. Nucleus Operational Protection of Animals, an Italian animal welfare agency, has reached out to the local authorities to try and find out the current condition of the horse seen in the video.

  1. This is a disgrace why was this poor horse made to work so hard in the heat that he goes down like this dont you people understand that animals have the same needs as you if you need to rest so did this horse but no you stupid heartless humans thought only of your selves i pray this beautiful horse recovers and is looked after with LOVE

  2. This is happening all over the place…please stop making these horses pull people around …..it is too much for them….PLEASE!!!!!!!

  3. Why don’t people understand….. times have changed. Horses were meant to be on dirt roads, no fills, just roaming pastures…they are not meant to be on hot pavement, asphalt, breathing noxious fumes from cars. STOP KILLING and torturing horses for carriage rides….get motorized carriages…please, stop ,killing these beautiful animals

  4. Smh. If NOPA is so concerned wouldn’t they find out about the condition of this horse?!!!! Enough of these horses being used and abused. Lynn, MA police had used horses to certain areas in the city on the shores of beaches. I never did find out what happened to those horses who were longer used. Same with Boston.

  5. And once again, a horse drops and SOME people actually defend this nasty practice of horses being made to dodge traffic, pull overloaded carriages, work in too hot/too cold weather and then be housed in some deplorable shack with minimal food, water and treated like a damn machine instead of a living breathing being. This needs to be stopped – these animals were not meant to lug people around in city streets – this happens way too often and authorities just close their eyes to this cruelty.
