An EMT was fired on January 11 after he mutilated a family’s dog, who had been killed when he was hit by an ambulance in Polk County, North Carolina. According to the termination letter from the Polk County Government, Michael Purdy was fired for “Unacceptable personal conduct,” which involved taking and mutilating the deceased dog, and then lying about the situation.
The dog in question was a nine-year-old Shiloh shepherd (named Goliath) who was accidentally killed on January 8 by an ambulance driver (who provided condolences to the dog’s owners). According to the dog’s owner, who reported the disturbing situation to the local authorities, Purdy retrieved the dog’s body after hearing the ambulance driver describe the dead dog as “mostly wolf,” reported WYFF News.
Goliath’s owner has stated that Purdy not only skinned her dog, but he also decapitated him and posted about the canine being a wolf on social media. The dog’s owner described her deceased pet, “Goliath had so much personality. He barked until you got out of the car and petted him on the head. He took your hand with his mouth, led you to the door and gave looks that made you want to kiss him.”
Goliath’s owner wants to know why Purdy did what he did – she told WYFF News…
“Did you really believe he was a wolf or did you want to believe he was so that you can have his hide?”
Purdy was reported to be off-duty at the time that he mutilated Goliath’s body.
