An elderly, blind dog is crying with heartbreak and confusion after being abandoned with her senior friend. The bonded dogs are being held at the Palmdale Animal Care Center in California – the facility where they were left by their prior owner.

It’s difficult to imagine surrendering a dog to strangers…especially when leaving them behind could mean possible death. Dozens of concerned Facebook users have been frantically networking for this bonded pair of senior dogs, but no one has been able to commit to taking them in together.

The volunteer-run Facebook page for the shelter has posted the following information about these senior dogs, along with a video showing their distress (see below):

Palmdale Ca – #A5102144 (Angel is blind)

My name is Angel and I’m an approximately 12 year old female labrador retr. I am already spayed. I have been at the Palmdale Animal Care Center since August 18, 2017. I am available on August 18, 2017. You can visit me at my temporary home at P1505.

My former family who owned me for more than 5 years had to give me up because their landlord wouldn’t allow me. But they said that I spend most of my time indoors. I seem to be good with small children. I am housetrained. I am good on a leash. I seem to get along well with dogs and cats.

      • EB – to be put down as inhumanely as possible – these so called ‘owners’ dumped two senior dogs KNOWING the minute chance they would have to be adopted – personally, I am very doubtful of their stupid excuse ‘landlord’ which is an overused reason. They are nothing more than low class, low life, irresponsible, cruel jerkoffs. Hope they end up living under a filthy bridge.

  1. PLEASE save them. I am in New York, so impossible but these senior dogs need help. Fostering too will help save them. One helps the other. It is obvious they love each other. Go and see the dogs in person and take them for a walk. I am sure you will fall in love with them.

  2. I really do not care what lie owners give when abandoning a “pet” to a kill shelter, I feel the owner never. ever had one iota of love for that animal……PERIOD!!!!!! I say lie because after volunteering in shelters %98 of the time the reasons the give are out and out lies! With the most popular one being that they are moving! If the owners loved and cared about these dogs in any way there are other options, such as rescues and rehoming. Just another example of selfishness and dogs being disposable. I keep in my prayers that the assholes that do this will one day have misery and pain rain down on their lives is a huge way.

  3. This video should be sent to the former owners. It may not do the dogs any good but it sure would make me feel better if their faces were rubbed into the fact of the pain they are causing.

  4. The “Landlord” wouldn’t allow the dogs. So did you just move to a place where the dogs aren’t allowed or did all of a sudden the landlord decided the dogs have to go? Either way you find a place that will take you AND the dogs, if you care anything about them. Obviously, you don’t! Sharing in New York State (not that it will do much good)

  5. Heartbreaking….I couldn’t even imagine giving up my dogs for any reason especially a landlord. Why not find a new place to live. I would honestly live in my car before giving up my dogs. I pray someone takes both of these senior girls and lets them live out the remaining years together and loved.

  6. Shame on the owner and may this heartless person never be allowed to adopt another living animal. These two senior dogs are suppose to spend their golden years in a loving home, not in a shelter. Will share on FB.

  7. It broke my heart to hear Angel in such distress. Yep, the old “landlord won’t allow the dogs” or “we’re moving” excuses – pathetic and 99% of the time a lie. I hope these 2 babies made it out of the shelter okay.
