The cries of sadness as Duke longs for help out of the overcrowded Miami-Dade Animal Services are heartbreaking. How can anyone explain to a friendly, two-year-old German shepherd mix that no one wants him nor has anyone come to even visit him lately? Duke just doesn’t understand, but when someone approaches his kennel cage, he wags his tail in delight – hoping against hope you’re the one to unlock his prison doors and take him for a walk, play fetch or better yet – a car ride to his new home.

Duke’s Pet Harbor description:

“A1882215) I am a male tan and black German Shepherd Dog mix.

The shelter staff think I am about 2 years old and I weigh 70 pounds.

I was found as a stray and I may be available for adoption on 06/23/2017.”

And so Duke waits. Shelter volunteer, Marta Sanchez posted the following about this sweet pooch:

“Super handsome, eager and friendly. 70 # not one of the barkers here in pod K. Wags and looks at me longingly.”

  1. Suppose that were you sitting in that cage? Will someone please take this dog home and make things right for him. You won’t regret making him a part of your family. I have rescued 6 myself. Don’t regret one minute of it.
