A senior dog spent eight days trapped inside of a truck with her owner who died on a road trip between Texas and Florida. According to WFLA News, the 10-year-old golden retriever named Sandy was with Dan Hart when he suffered a medical emergency and died.
Over a week passed before anyone found the deceased man inside of his truck in Harrison County, Mississippi …his faithful dog remained inside of the vehicle, waiting for help to arrive. According to WLOX News, a tow truck driver made the tragic discovery, and Sandy was taken to the the Humane Society of South Mississippi.
Dawn Boob, the director of shelter operations, said, “She was a sweet dog. Really just an absolutely beautiful soul, considering the circumstances…We were fortunate to be part of her journey.” It was a friend of Sandy’s owner’s family who noticed the dog’s photo of Facebook – shortly thereafter, Michelle Londke and Sherryl Jenkinson hit the road to pick up Sandy and get her back to Dan Hart’s widow, Carolyn.
Today, Carolyn and Sandy are together again…man’s best friend there to comfort her owner during a heartbreaking time.
Did you know that if you want to get updates from a Facebook page, you need to do more than “like” it? To get recent postings in your Facebook feed, you must also hover your mouse over the word “following” and then click “see first” from the drop-down menu. You may want to check back with your favorite pages on occasion because Facebook often changes your settings, no longer having your favorites among those to “see first.”
Who’s surprised with this revelation?
Is back home with the man’s wife and she will always love this dog for staying by her husband’s side. Sad situation for family and friends.
I am so very sorry for the family.
