Dog stolen from adoption event

Dog stolen from pet adoption event

Days ago, a young dog attending a pet adoption event at a PetSmart store in San Antonio, Texas, was stolen. According to KSAT News, the two-year-old Shih Tzu, named “Daisy,” was at the adoption event last weekend when she was allegedly stolen by two women who had expressed interest in adopting her.

The women had asked to hold the little dog and then walked into the store – supposedly to complete adoption paperwork. But Daisy was never returned and now the rescue agency caring for the dog is frantic to find the missing dog.

On July 1, Pause for Paws, Inc. reached out to Facebook followers with details about the incident:

PLEASE SHARE EVERYWHERE!!! STOLEN at 4:15PM today. Petsmart/281 Bitters. Belongs to Pause for Paws (Street Dog) Rescue.

Adding:

Contact Sharal immediately at 210-378-5373 or me!!!!!!! She is on of OUR dogs. She is micro-chipped to Pause for Paws. Female Shih Tzu.

The rescue agency has stated that Daisy can be returned to any veterinarian or PetSmart (where her chip will reveal ownership information).

Unfortunately that is becoming a common thing. Happened at a pet adoption event in St Louis also. If you can’t afford the fee chances are you can’t afford a dog. STOP IT!!!!!!!!!!!

Stealing an animal you were interested in adopting will now get you on another type of list of being a thief. Did she think all she had to do was show interest in a dog and she could steal it? Rescues spead money for each individual dog/cat they rescue and that cost is reflected in the fees you pay to adopt that animal. If you can’t or don’t want to pay an adoption fee,do think of getting a pet because that is just the start of the expenses involved in taking care of any animal (vet. visits, meds, treatments, etc.).

I hate when people balk at paying an adoption fee. They often think the rescues are making money from them, and therefore, they don’t want to pay. Unfortunately, a stolen dog cannot be followed up on. You don’t know if the thief will take care of it, since they weren’t willing to put up the adoption fee, perhaps they won’t want to pay for food and vet bills. Any way you look at this, it’s wrong. It’s not the same as stealing a shirt from a store, either. This is a living, sensitive animal that needs care and love. I can only imagine what the adoption group is going through. I hope they no longer let an interested individual handle a dog without a representative of the rescue right there the entire time. Hoping the security camera pictures will be a help in identifying the thief and they are caught and sent to jail. Poor pup. Praying you are okay and will be returned, unharmed.

CHEAP BITCHES. THE DAMN MONEY GOES FOR A GOOD CAUSE ANYWAY TO TAKE CARE OF THE OTHER ANIMALS. SAN ANTONIO ISN’T THE BEST PLACE FOR ADOPTIONS. I HOPE THESE TWO BITCHES DON’T HURT THIS DOG AND HAVE THE DECENCY TO RETURN DAISY. I WISH I CAN KICK THE SHIT OUT OF THESE TWO LOW LIFE SCUMBAGS. WHO THE HELL THINKS WHEN THESE ORGANIZATIONS ARE ASKING FOR ADOPTION FEES IT IS A BIG PROFIT FOR THESE RESCUE PLACES. BASTARDS FORGET THE CARE FOR THE ANIMALS, FOOD, VETS AND SO FORTH. CHEAP SOB.

That surveillance camera got a pretty good shot of this thief – SOMEONE knows who this is and needs to turn this woman in – this tiny dog may be in danger and has to be returned – this woman is obviously one without any morals or conscience – only greed – PLEASE GET THIS LITTLE DOG BACK TO THE RESCUE!

What makes people think they can just walk away with a pet? They are just a thief and need to be arrested and prosecuted!
