Dog run over twice and left for dead in Miami, Florida

Lucky, a medium sized brown and white male dog, was run over by a vehicle, not once but twice in the area of Miami, Florida. The vehicle ran over him once, then backed up and ran over him again. He was left for dead on the side of the road. Not only did he sustain severe nerve damage to his hind quarters which rendered him incontinent, but he also sustained blunt force trauma to his head and face breaking all of his teeth.

Lucky was taken to Miami Dade Animal Services where he was placed in isolation. It seemed the only option for Lucky was euthanasia until a kindly volunteer saw how sweet Lucky was and wanted him to be saved. She put out a plea to local rescues when JW Rescue and Friends of Coral Springs, Florida took Lucky under their wing.  Lucky was treated at the Pet House Animal Clinic where he had surgery to remove his broken and damaged teeth. He also underwent therapy for the inoperable nerve damage to his hind quarters. Unfortunately, Lucky did not regain control over his bowels and bladder and suffers blood leakage from his anus when overly active.  He had to wear diapers until they caused him an uncomfortable rash, so that was discontinued. JW Rescue and Friends worked very hard to help Lucky, but they eventually ran out of resources and options for him. No other rescue or sanctuary would take him in due to his disabilities.

Rescue Teamsters, the Florida division of Chinese Shar Pei Rescue, were Lucky’s next angels. They took him in and began their own therapies through a vet in Winter Haven, Florida who practices Eastern and Western medicine. The vet is quite optimistic that her methods will work as they have been successful in treating other dogs with similar problems to Lucky.

The therapy Lucky is undergoing is similar to acupuncture but on a constant basis. This same therapy was used on another dog who was incontinent, and he is completely continent now. On August 10th, 2017, Dr. Vargas reported that Lucky was doing very well. He is undergoing Aqua Acupuncture and walking on a treadmill to regain strength in his back legs.  Other therapies include going to the dog bone pool for aqua therapy. Eventually, 24k gold chips will be placed in Lucky’s body to help it realign. If the surgery is successful, he will be a normal dog and able to be adopted.

However, Lucky has a long road ahead of him.  Despite all he’s been through, Lucky is the true embodiment of resilience of spirit that dogs are known for. He loves to run, walk, play, and go to the beach with the volunteers and has an amazing zest for life. He doesn’t let his disability slow him down or dampen his will to live.

Rescue Teamsters has set up a page for Lucky on Pound Wishes for those who wish to donate toward his ongoing medical expenses. Although Rescue Teamsters is hopefully optimistic that the medical procedure and therapies will help Lucky regain his continence, there is a chance that it may not. If that is the case they will still be looking for a forever home or foster who is able to tend to the special needs of this very special dog.

If you are that special person, please email rescueteamsters@gmail.com.

WHAT A SICK BASTARD. IT IS A SHAME THIS POS DIDN’T HIT A DAMN POLE AND LEFT HIM FOR DEAD. I ABSOLUTELY HAVE NO PITY FOR HUMANS UNLESS THEY ARE REAL ANIMAL LOVERS SINCE THEY ARE DIFFERENT. MOST HUMANS ARE COLD HEARTED SELFISH AND THE SCUM OF THE EARTH. NO WONDER ANIMALS ARE BEFORE HUMANS. HOPE THIS ROTTEN SUBHUMAN ROTS AND DIES.dan

100 percent with you. I am so sick of this animal abuse and how they get away with it. I think half is alot lower than I would put on the human race worthless list, I think the only people left with heart and soul are animal lovers. We are so overwhelmed with heart ache and resources to help everyday. All animal species are losing the battle with abusive, heartless killer humans. Eye for an eye justice is the only answer. This country is out of control and getting worse.

Praying for a complete recovery for Lucky, sometimes God does what man cannot. And to the POS that ran him over, Karma will come for you and let’s hope sooner rather than later.

HUGE THANK YOU TO RESCUE TEAMSTERS FOR STEPPING UP for Lucky when others deemed him hopeless. And to the knuckle dragging bastard who deliberately ran him over twice – may you find your useless self starving, bug ridden and left on the side of the road AND NO ONE CARES – You deserve all the worst of everything – may it find you soon,
